ViA - Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences together with other European universities of applied sciences, is launching the Horizon Europe project āREMAP ā Research Management Pathways: Building Capacity, Recognition, and Networks in the ERAā. š¤
šThe project focuses on the professionals who support researchers in their day-to-day work ā helping to plan and implement projects, coordinate collaboration, manage finances and data, prepare reports, and handle other aspects of the research process. ViA is the project coordinator and lead partner, responsible for its overall strategic direction and the coordination of the international partnership.
šØļøāWhen we talk about research, researchers and their achievements are usually in the spotlight. However, behind every research project is a much broader team ā research project managers, coordinators, data management specialists, open science experts, and other professionals whose work helps researchers turn their ideas into tangible results,ā says Agnese DÄvidsone, Rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences.
REMAP aims to strengthen the role, skills, and career opportunities of these professionals while increasing the recognition of research management as a profession across Europe. Similar initiatives have already been implemented at research universities, but the situation at universities of applied sciences is different. These institutions are often smaller, meaning that one person may take on several different roles ā for example, a researcher may also serve as a project manager or coordinator.

REMAP (No. 101291134) was launched in September 2026 and will run for three years, until August 2029. The project has a total budget of EUR 1.87 million. Together with partners from several European countries, ViA will work to advance the professional development of research management and strengthen the role of research managers and administrators.
