Confucius Institute
The Confucius Institute within Free International University from the Republic of Moldova was established in September 29 , 2009. Confucius Institute has this name from one great Chinese educator and philosopher –Confucius .It has its headquarter in Beijing,China .The main aim of CI around the world is to teach Chinese language for learners all over the world.As the first and
only Confucius Institute in Moldova until now ,our goal is to strengthen educational cooperation between Moldova and China,support and promote the development of Chinese language education and enhance deep and insightful mutual understanding between moldovans and Chinese.CI is a collaboration between Northwest Normal University which is a prestigious university in China embracing over 100 years of history, and the Free International University of Moldova. Now,around the world in over 100 countries there are already more than 400 Confucius Institutes providing language education for more than 6 million learners. CI at ULIM is an educational organization which offers a range of services to persons wishing to explore Chinese language and culture.The Confucius Institute from the Republic of Moldova aims to help the learners of Chinese language,adapt to their needs and for this purpose it provides Chinese language teaching ,native Chinese teachers ,organizes Chinese exams for Chinese language learners and also training courses for local Chinese teachers,consultations and information about Chinese culture and develops language and interactive activities in regard to the Chinese culture,therefore to enhance the cultural and economic communication between Moldova and China .Since Confucius Institute has commenced its activity until now,it has helped already 31 moldovan students apply successfully for scholarships in the People’s Republic of China and went in different cities and even at different majors applying for bachelor and master degrees. The students attented the Chinese Bridge Competition ,event financially supplied by the Chinese government . Altogether,10 students have attended this competition and visited the People’s Republic of China ,where they have studied and interacted with students that also learn chinese from around world during a wide variety of cultural events that made them experience and feel the Chinese culture.Other 24 students went to the summer camp in China (partly financed by the Chinese government) .Having the support of the Confucius Institute,students pass HSK examinations followed by the selection and approval to go to China. The Confucius Institute from the Republic of Moldova has its central office in the Free International University ,but also develops activities in the State Pedagogical University Ion Creangă ,Academy of Economic Studies,ARTICO Center for Children and Youth ,Mihail Sadoveanu school and Socrate school. Services :
• Offers Chinese Language courses on different levels (for children, primary, secondary and college students, and adults);
• Administers the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) – China’s only standardized test for non-native speakers
• Provides consulting services for individuals wishing to study in China;
• Provide reference materials for the educational and other professional individuals;
• Organizes seminars and workshops on Chinese calligraphy, traditional Chinese Medicine, paper-cut, minority dances, music, Chinese cuisine, Tai-chi-quan.
• Organizes the Chinese Bridge Competition – an international contest for mastery of Chinese Language, which is held every year in China
• Organizes cultural exhibitions
• Organizes the Chinese Summer Camp
• Organizes cultural exchanges and provides scholarships to outstanding students wishing to study in China.
