Department of Mining Engineering Yangon Technological University Myanmar

The term “Mining” came into education in 1927, along with the B.O.C College of Mining and Engineering but no intake. In 1954 ,Department of Mining Engineering was founded. The then four year course, upon completion, led to “Bachelor of Science” degree. In 1957,the first four graduated as B.Sc.Engg. (Mining).In 1958, the course was extended from four to five years. In 1965,the degree “B.Sc. Engg. (Mining)” was designated as “B.E. (Mining)”.In 2006, Department of Mining Engineering -totally produced over 680 graduates Closed 24 years (1988 – 2012) But,Staff Educational Programme opened in 1997 In 2008, the University Reopened.

It is envisaged that Mining Department will become a highly-prestigious technological centre of excellence in teaching and research with a strong commitment to systematically educate and train students of high calibre to become well-rounded, highly-qualified engineers, specialists with the ability to solve complex problems and researchers who can discover and innovate new things, all for the good of society, mankind and environment.
