Little Hands, Colourful Discoveries!

Our Reception learners at MPA International School had a wonderful time discovering how colours change when they mix together!
Using cotton sheets, colourful ice cubes, and their own little hands, the children explored, observed, and discovered new colours through a fun hands-on experience. Their excitement grew as the ice melted and different colours blended together.
Through this simple activity, our young learners developed curiosity, observation skills, creativity, and early scientific thinking — learning naturally through exploration and discovery.
At MPA, we love seeing little minds asking questions, experimenting, and making their own discoveries!

To bring the story to life, our toddlers took part in an exciting fine-motor art activity. Using liquid-filled syringes, they carefully squirted colored water onto caterpillar crafts, watching in awe as the paper expanded and transformed with colour right before their eyes! This interactive lesson did so much more than spark their imagination. It helped build crucial early developmental skills. Using syringes greatly strengthens their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while exploring different fruits boosts their vocabulary and sensory recognition. Above all, sharing the magic together nurtured their listening skills, patience, and joy for learning!

Our MPA International School Year 7 students recently stepped into the world of chemistry with a fun, hands-on Chromatography activity! After placing marker patterns on filter paper and watching water separate the hidden pigments, they took their creations a step further. Using colorful pipe cleaners, they folded and shaped their dried chromatography papers into beautiful butterflies and creative figurines!

This activity was a fantastic way to make learning both engaging and memorable. Beyond observing chemical separation in action, our Year 7s built valuable practical skills. Working alongside their classmates, they strengthened their communication and collaboration skills by sharing ideas and materials. Designing their crafts also challenged their critical thinking and creative problem-solving, as they blended scientific observation with fine art to transform simple filter paper into 3D creations.

Our students conducted a hands-on experiment to discover how plants absorb water and nutrients by placing white roses and fresh vegetables into dyed water.

Watching the stems pull the bright dyes up into the petals and leaves over time was pure magic! This interactive project was a fantastic way for our Year 4s to practice scientific inquiry, teamwork, and critical observation. By predicting outcomes, sharing observations with peers, and discussing capillary action, they developed both their cognitive and social skills in a fun, memorable way.

Learning becomes so much fun when you do it with your friends! Our Reception students had the best time cooking their own homemade mango ice cream. They measured, mixed, and enjoyed themselves to the fullest during this process.

Apart from having such a great time and getting their hands sticky, hands-on experiences such as this help our young learners in their development in many ways. While working in the kitchen, they developed their life skills. They learned to work with others and cooperate because they needed to share the utensils and take turns. Communication skills were developed due to listening and communicating with their friends during the process. By following the recipe, they practiced their problem-solving and developed confidence.
