The University of Culture (Yangon) was established as an advance University by the Fine Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture on 24 September, 1993. Its establishment was intended to develop and propagate the fine arts of Myanmar, to bring out world class Myanmar artistes, and in addition to the State School of Music and Drama and the State School of Fine Arts. ity of Culture (Yangon) was constructed in Aung Zeya Road in South Dagon Town-ship commencing from 1994-95 financial year by the Public Works only completing about 84.6%. However, on September 18, 1996, the new campus of University of Culture was moved to Ward 26 of South Dagon Township.
