The University of Public Health (UPH), Yangon, Myanmar is the premier university for post graduate education on public health in Myanmar. The Ministry of Health, Republic of the Union of Myanmar formally established the University of Public Health as an academic institution for post graduate studies on public health in July 2007. The university offers various degree programs including Master and D
octorate in Public Health, Diploma in Hospital Administration, and Diploma in Medical Education, in addition to short certificate training courses on epidemiology, health ethics, health financing, etc. The university is a member of the regional networks of academic institutions on public health, such as the South-East Asia Public Health Education Institution Network (SEAPHEIN) and the Public Health Academic Network of the Greater Mekong Sub-regional countries. In addition, University of Public Health collaborates with eminent universities including University of Adelaide (Australia), University of Oslo (Norway), Johns Hopkins University (USA) and National University of Singapore. The mission of the University of Public Health, Yangon, is to develop leaders and managers in the health sector, by educating health and other personnel in the areas of health policy and management, epidemiology and disease control, health behaviour and social aspects of health, biostatistics and demography, environmental and occupational health, ethics in public health, public health nutrition, public health laboratory, population and family health, medical education science and information technology and other public health related areas, by conducting the quality research and by participating in the practice of health care services".
