ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာ လူငယ်များအတွက် ဝေါဟာရများ
A Dictionary of Buddhist Terms ဆိုတဲ့ အဘိဓာန်ကို အစကနေ တစ်ရွက်ချင်းဖတ်တယ်၊ လိုချင်တာလေးတွေ မှတ်စုချရေးတယ်။ စာမျက်နှာစုစုပေါင်း ၃၀၀ ကျော်ပါတယ်။ ဖတ်လို့ပြီးသွားပြီ။ ကူးရေးထားတဲ့ မှတ်စုတွေထဲက သိထားသင့်တဲ့ အောက်ပါ ဝေါဟာရတွေကို အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ ဝါသနာရှင် လူငယ်များအတွက် ပြန်မျှဝေပေးလိုက်ပါတယ်။ Buddhism အကြောင်းကို အင်္ဂလိပ်လို ပြောချင် ရေးချင်ရင်၊ နိုင်ငံခြားသားတွေကို ပြန်ရှင်းပြချင်ရင် အသုံးဝင်မယ့် ဝေါဟာရများဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အားလုံး ၁၀၂ လုံး ပြန်ဝေမျှလိုက်ပါတယ်။
1. animosity = အာဃာတ၊ ရန်ငြိုးဖွဲ့မှု
2. attachment = ရာဂ၊ တပ်မက်မှု
3. bewilderment = မောဟ၊ အမှန်တရားကို မသိမှု၊ တွေဝေမှု (delusion, ignorance )
4. Celestial being = ဒေဝ၊ နတ် (Deity , god)
5. Celestial realm = ဒေဝလောက၊ နတ်ပြည်
(the six planes/abodes of celestial beings နတ်ပြည်ခြောက်ထပ်)
6. charity = ဒါန၊ စွန့်ကြဲပေးကမ်း လှူဒါန်းခြင်း
7. compassion = ကရုဏာ၊ သနားကြင်နာခြင်း၊ သနားညှာတာခြင်း
8. conceit = မာန၊ မာန်၊ ထောင်လွှားခြင်း
9. concentration = သမာဓိ၊ တည်ကြည်မှု၊ အာရုံတစ်ခုတည်း၌ စိတ်တည်နေမှု
10. consciousness = ဝိညာဏ၊ သိမှုသဘော၊ သိစိတ်
11. conviction = သဒ္ဓါ၊ သဒ္ဓါတရား၊ ယုံကြည်မှု၊ ကြည်ညိုမှု
12. covetousness = အဘိဇ္ဈာ၊ မတရားသဖြင့် ကြံစည်မှု၊ သူတပါးစည်းစိမ်ချမ်းသာကို မတရားလိုချင်မှု (greed, wrongful thoughts, inordinate desire to have other people's property )
13. craving = တဏှာ၊ တွယ်တာစွဲလမ်းမှု၊ တပ်မက်မှု
14. defilement = ကိလေသာ၊ စိတ်ညစ်ညူးကြောင်းဖြစ်သော တရား။
15. Demarcated area = သီမာ၊ သိမ်၊ ပိုင်းခြားထားသောနယ်မြေ၊ သံဃာတော်တို့ ကံဆောင်ရာ ဌာန (Boundary, Ordination Hall)
16. effort = ဝီရိယ၊ လုံ့လစိုက်ထုတ်မှု (energy, endeavor)
17. eight moral precepts = ဥပေါသထသီလ၊ အင်္ဂါရှစ်ပါးရှိသော ဥပုသ်သီလ၊ ရှစ်ပါးသီလ
18. envy = ဣဿာ၊ မနာလိုမှု၊ ငြူစူမှု
19. equanimity = ဥပေက္ခာ၊ ဝမ်းမသာ ဝမ်းမနည်းဖြစ်ခြင်း၊ လျစ်လျူရှုခြင်း (neutral state of mind, the mental equipoise )
20. falsehood = မုသာဝါဒ၊ မဟုတ်မမှန်ပြောဆိုခြင်း၊ မုသားစကား။ (untruth, telling lies)
21. fasting day = ဥပေါသထဒိဝသ၊ ဥပုသ်နေ့၊ လူပုဂ္ဂိုလ်များ ၈ ပါးသီလကျင့်သုံးသောနေ့၊ သံဃာတော်များ ဥပုသ်ပြုသောနေ့။
22. Guardian of the world = လောကပါလဓမ္မ၊ လောကကို စောင့်ရှောက်တတ်သော တရား။ လူသားများကို မပျက်စီးရအောင် စောင့်ရှောက်တတ်သော တရား။ (principles guarding the world; principles guarding mankind)
23. harsh speech = ဖရုသဝါစာ၊ ကြမ်းတမ်းသောစကားကို ပြောဆိုခြင်း၊ ဆဲရေးကြိမ်းမောင်းခြင်း (coarse language, vulgarities , harsh words)
24. heedfulness = အပ္ပမာဒ၊ မမေ့မလျော့ခြင်း၊ မမေ့လျော့ကြောင်းတရား၊ အသိတရား။ (vigilance , zeal, mindfulness)
25. heedlessness = ပမာဒ၊ မေ့လျော့ခြင်း၊ သတိကင်းလွတ်ခြင်း (unmindfulness)
26. hungry miserable being = ပေတ၊ ပြိတ္တာ၊ ချမ်းသာအပေါင်းမှ ကင်းကွာသူ (a peta's existence ပြိတ္တာဘဝ)
27. ignorance = အဝိဇ္ဇာ၊ မောဟ၊ အမှန်တရားကိုမသိခြင်း (stupidity, foolishness , dullness )
28. ill will = ဗျာပါဒ၊ သူတပါးကို ပျက်စီးစေလိုမှု
29. impermanence = အနိစ္စ၊ မမြဲသောတရား
30. King of Niraya = ယမရာဇ၊ ယမမင်း၊ ငရဲမင်း၊ ဝေမာနိကပြိတ္တာမင်း (King Yama; Vemanika-peta)
31. knowledge = ပညာ၊ ဝေဖန်ပိုင်းခြား၍ သိမြင်တတ်သောသဘော၊ အကြားအမြင်ဗဟုသုတ၊ အမှန်သိခြင်း။ (wisdom; reasoning power; general knowledge ; seeing things as they truly are)
32. lay devotee = ဥပါသက၊ ဥပါသကာ၊ ရတနာသုံးပါးကို ကိုးကွယ်ဆည်းကပ်သူ ယောက်ျား။
ဥပါသိကာ၊ ဥပါသိကာမ၊ ရတနာသုံးပါးကို ကိုးကွယ်ဆည်းကပ်သူ အမျိုးသမီး။

34. loving kindness = မေတ္တာ၊ သတ္တဝါများအပေါ် အကျိုးလိုလားသောတရား။ (goodwill; benevolence )
35. lust = ရာဂ၊ လိုချင်တပ်မက်သောတရား။ (attachment; greed; passion)
36. mental absorption = ဈာန၊ ဈာန်၊ ဆိုင်ရာအာရုံကို စူးစူးစိုက်စိုက်ရှုတတ်သောတရား။ (absorptive concentration )
37. mental action = မနောကမ္မ၊ မနောကံ၊ စိတ်ဖြင့်ကြံစည်တွေးတောမှု (thought)
38. mental cultivation = ဘာဝနာ၊ ရှုပွားခြင်း၊ ပွားများအားထုတ်ခြင်း၊ ပွားများအောင် အကြိမ်ကြိမ် အားထုတ်ခြင်း။ (meditation; developing the mind; repetitive exercise at mental development )
39. merit = ပုည၊ ဘုန်းကံ၊ ကောင်းမှုကုသိုလ်။ (good and virtuous deed)
40. the Middle Way = မဇ္ဈိမပဋိပဒါ၊ အလယ်အလတ်အကျင့်၊ မဂ္ဂင်ရှစ်ပါးကျင့်စဉ်တရား။ (the Ariya Path of Eight Constituents)
41. mindfulness of breathing out and breathing in = အာနာပါနဿတိ၊ ထွက်သက် ဝင်သက်ကို အာရုံပြု၍ဖြစ်သောသတိ
42. monastic dwelling = သေနာသန၊ ကျောင်း၊ ရဟန်းတော်များနေထိုင်သီတင်းသုံးရာဌာန (monastery )
43. moral intoxicant = အာသဝ၊ အာသဝေါတရား။
44. moral obligations = စာရိတ္တသီလ၊ ကျင့်ထိုက်သောသီလ၊ ကျင့်ဝတ်သီလ။ (virtuous conduct)
45. morality = သီလ၊ ကိုယ်မှုနှုတ်မှုများကိုစောင့်ထိန်းခြင်း (moral conduct; restraint in physical and verbal actions)
46. Natural Law = နိယာမ၊ မြဲသောတရား၊ ဖြစ်ရိုးဖြစ်စဉ်သဘော။ (The Cosmic Order; natural process)
47. Nibbana = နိဗ္ဗာန၊ နိဗ္ဗာန်၊ တဏှာမှလွတ်မြောက်မှု (Nirvana; Liberation from Craving)
48. Noble Eightfold Path = မဂ္ဂင်ရှစ်ပါး၊ အလယ်အလတ်လမ်းစဉ် (the Ariya Path of Eight Constituents; the Middle Way)
49. the Noble Practice = ဗြဟ္မစရိယ၊ မြတ်သောအကျင့်
50. Non-returner = အနာဂါမိ၊ အနာဂါမ်၊ ကာမဘုံ၌ ပဋိသန္ဓေမနေသောပုဂ္ဂိုလ် (One who is not subject to rebirth in the realm of sensual pleasures.)

52. novice-to-be = ပဏ္ဍုပလာသ၊ သာမဏေလောင်း၊ ရှင်လောင်း (Postulant )
53. observance of fasting day = ဥပေါသထ၊ ဥပုသ်စောင့်ခြင်း
54. ordination = ဥပသမ္ပဒါ၊ ရဟန်းပြုခြင်း၊ (ရဟန်းဂုဏ်အင်္ဂါနှင့်ပြည့်စုံစေခြင်း)
55. out-breath and in-breath = အာနာပါန၊ ထွက်သက်ဝင်သက်
56. owning up = ဒေသနာ၊ ဒေသနာကြားခြင်း၊ အာပတ်ဖြေခြင်း (owning up to one's misdeeds)
57. paying homage = ဝန္ဒနာ၊ ရှိခိုးခြင်း (paying obeisance )
58. pleasure = ကာမ၊ တပ်မက်ဖွယ်ရာ၊ တပ်မက်စွဲလမ်းမှု (agreeable sensation; attachment )
59. preacher = ဓမ္မဒေသက၊ တရားဟောပြော သိတတ်စေသောသူ၊ တရားဟောဆရာ၊ ဓမ္မကထိက (expounder of the dhamma; a teacher of the dhamma)
60. preceptor = ဥပဇ္ဈာယ၊ ဥပဇ္ဈာယ်ဆရာ၊ အနီးကပ်သွန်သင် ဆုံးမတတ်သည့်ဆရာ၊ အပြစ်ကြီး အပြစ်ငယ်တို့ကို ဆုံးမတတ်သောဆရာ။ (teacher; mentor; a teacher who teaches and corrects his pupils in matters great and small)
61. precepts = သိက္ခာပဒ၊ သိက္ခာပုဒ်၊ သီလ။ (moral rules and regulations; Five Precepts ငါးပါးသီလ၊ Eight Moral Precepts ရှစ်ပါးသီလ)
62. proper attention = ယောနိသောမနသိကာရ၊ သင့်တင့်မှန်ကန်စွာနှလုံးသွင်းခြင်း (right perception )
63. protective verse = ပရိတ္တ၊ ဘေးဆီးရန်ကာပရိတ်တရား။ (Paritta is a protective verse which averts evils and provides protection from evil influences.)
64. rains retreat period = ဝဿာဝါသ၊ ဝါဆိုခြင်း၊ ဝါကပ်ခြင်း၊ မိုးတွင်းသုံးလအတွင်း ဝါဆိုသည့်ကျောင်းတိုက် အာရာမ်တွင်းမှာ နေရခြင်း။ (observing the rains retreat period; confining oneself to a specific monastic dwelling during the three months of monsoon rains)
65. Refuge = သရဏ၊ ကိုးကွယ်အားထားရာ ရတနာသုံးပါး။ (The Three Gems as Refuge ဘုရား တရား သံဃာ ရတနာသုံးပါး။ The Three Gems are called Refuge because they protect the one who takes refuge in them against all kinds of danger and misfortune. )
66. rejoicing in others' merit = ပတ္တာနုမောဒန၊ သူတပါးတို့ ကုသိုလ်ကောင်းမှုပြုသည်ကို ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်း၊ သူတပါးတို့က အမျှပေးဝေသော ကုသိုလ်အဖို့ကို ဝမ်းမြောက်ဝမ်းသာ သာဓုခေါ်ခြင်း။ (By rejoicing in others' deed of merit and saying "Sadhu (Well-done!)" one gains the same amount of merit as the author of the deed.)
67. Reliquary = ဓာတုဂဗ္ဘ၊ ဓာတ်တော်တိုက်။
စေတီတော်၏ အတွင်း၌ရှိသော ဓာတ်တော်တိုက်သည် အမွန်မြတ်ဆုံး နေရာဖြစ်သည်။
The reliquary inside a stupa is the most sacrosanct part of it.
68. repeated contemplation = အနုဿတိ၊ အဖန်ဖန်အောက်မေ့ခြင်း၊ အဖန်ဖန် သတိရခြင်း။
69. resultant = ဝိပါက၊ ဝိပါက်၊ အကျိုး။ (effect of kamma)
70. right action = သမ္မာကမ္မန္တ၊ မှန်ကန်သောအလုပ်၊ ကောင်းစွာပြုလုပ်မှု။ (right conduct)
71. right concentration = သမ္မာသမာဓိ၊ မှန်ကန်သော တည်ကြည်ခြင်း၊ ကောင်းစွာတည်ကြည်ခြင်း။
72. right effort = သမ္မာဝါယမ၊ မှန်ကန်သောအားထုတ်ခြင်း လုံ့လ၊ ကောင်းစွာအားထုတ်မှု။ (right endeavor )
73. right livelihood = သမ္မာအာဇီဝ၊ မှန်ကန်သောအသက်မွေးခြင်း၊ ကောင်းစွာ အသက်မွေးခြင်း။
74. right mindfulness = သမ္မာသတိ၊ မှန်ကန်သော အောက်မေ့အမှတ်ရခြင်း၊ ကောင်းစွာ အောက်မေ့ခြင်း။
75. right speech = သမ္မာဝါစာ၊ ကောင်းစွာ စကားဆိုခြင်း၊ မှန်ကန်သော စကားကို ဆိုခြင်း။
76. right thinking = သမ္မာသင်္ကပ္ပ၊ မှန်ကန်သော အကြံအစည်၊ ကောင်းစွာကြံစည်မှု။
77. right view = သမ္မာဒိဋ္ဌိ၊ မှန်ကန်သော အမြင် မှန်ကန်သော အယူ၊ ကောင်းသော အမြင် ကောင်းသော အယူ။ (right understanding )
78. round of existences = သံသာရ၊ သံသရာ၊ ဘဝ အဆက်မပြတ်ဖြစ်ခြင်း။ (the continuous arising of existences; The continuous arising of mind and matter, aggregates, is Samsara.)
79. scriptures = ပိဋက၊ ပိဋကတ်တော်၊ သင်ယူအပ်သော ပရိယတ္တိစာပေ။ ခြင်းတောင်း။ (canonical texts to be studied; basket)
80. seasonal offering of robes = ကထိနစီဝရ၊ ကထိန်သင်္ကန်း၊ ကထိန်ကံဆောင်ရန် လှုအပ်သော သင်္ကန်း။ (Kathina robes; robes offered to the Samgha for holding a kathina ceremony)
81. sexual misconduct = ကာမေသုမိစ္ဆာစာရ၊ ကာမဂုဏ်တို့၌ မှားမှားယွင်းယွင်း ကျင့်ခြင်း။ (misconduct in sexual relations)
82. sharing of merit = ပတ္တိဒါန၊ မိမိပြုလုပ်သော ကုသိုလ်အဖို့ကို အမျှအတန်းပေးဝေခြင်း။
83. shrine = စေတိယ၊ စေတီ၊ ပုထိုး၊ ကိုးကွယ်ပူဇော်အပ်သောအရာ။ (pagoda; temple; stupa; edifice)
84. six hues of the Buddha's rays = ဆဗ္ဗဏ္ဏရံသီ၊ ရောင်ခြည်တော်ခြောက်ပါး။ (six colored rays emitted from the Buddha's body)
85. spired palatial building = ပါသာဒ၊ ပြာသာဒ်၊ ဘုံအဆင့်ဆင့်နှင့် ထုပိကာတင်ထားသော အဆောက်အအုံ။ (building with multi-tiered decorated roofs; Magnificent buildings like palaces and monasteries are crowned with (usually ) seven tiers of decorated roofs and spire.)
86. stinginess = မစ္ဆရိယ၊ မပေးရက်လိုမှု၊ နှမြောဝန်တိုမှု၊ နှမြောစေးနှဲမှု။ (niggardliness; meanness)
87. stream-enterer = သောတာပန္န၊ သောတာပန်။ အရိယာမဂ်တည်းဟူသော ရေအလျဉ်သို့ရောက်သူ။ (one who enters the stream of the Ariya Path)
88. supramundane = လောကုတ္တရ၊ လောကုတ္တရာ၊ လောကမှ လွန်မြောက်သောတရား။ (things that transcend the world)
89. Supreme celestial being = ဗြဟ္မ၊ ဗြဟ္မာ၊ ဗြဟ္မာ့ဝိဟာရတရား လေးပါးကိုအမြဲပွားများနေသူ။
90. sympathetic joy = မုဒိတာ၊ သူတပါးကောင်းစားခြင်း၌ ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်း။
91. Synod = သိင်္ဂီတိ၊ သံဃာယနာ၊ သံဃာ့အစည်းအဝေးကြီး။ သံဃာယနာတင်ပွဲ။ (Great Council; Great Rehearsal)
92. taking intoxicants = သုရာမေရယ၊ မူးယစ်မေ့လျော့စေတတ်သော သေရည်သေရက် စသည်တို့ကို သောက်စားခြင်း။
93. taking refuge = သရဏဂမန၊ သရဏဂုံ၊ ရတနာသုံးပါးကို ကိုးကွယ်ဆည်းကပ်ခြင်း။ (going to the Three Gems for refuge)
94. tonsure = ကေသစ္ဆေဒန၊ ဆံပင်ရိတ်ခြင်း ဆံချခြင်း။ (shaving the head for novitiation)
95. tranquility = သမထ၊ သမာဓိ၊ စိတ်တည်ငြိမ်အောင် အားထုတ်သော ကမ္မဌာန်း၊ ကိလေသာနီဝရဏ တရားတို့၏ငြိမ်းအေးမှု။ (calm ; concentration ; meditation for tranquility ; calm due to the destruction of defilements and hindrances)
96. true friend = ကလျာဏမ္မိတ၊ မိတ်ဆွေကောင်း မိတ်ဆွေစစ် (worthy friend; good companion; faithful friend)
97. underwear = အန္တရဝါသက၊ သင်းပိုင်၊ ရဟန်း သာမဏေတို့၏ ခါးဝတ်သင်္ကန်း။ (loincloth ; under-robe)
98. Universal Monarch = စက္ကဝတ္တိရာဇ၊ စကြဝတေးမင်း၊ စကြာရတနာကို လည်စေတတ်သောမင်း။ (wheel-turning monarch)
99. untimely meal = ဝိကာလဘောဇန၊ နေလွဲညစာစားခြင်း။ (taking food after midday)
100. upper garment = ဥတ္တရာသင်္ဂ၊ ဧကသီ၊ ရဟန်းသံဃာတို့၏ အပေါ်ရုံအဝတ်၊ ကိုယ်ဝတ်သင်္ကန်း။ (a bhikkhu's robe meant for the upper part of his body)
101. vain talk = သမ္ဖပ္ပလာပ၊ ပြိန်ဖျင်းသောစကားကို ပြောဆိုခြင်း၊ မိမိ သူတပါး အကျိုးမရှိသောစကားကို ပြောဆိုခြင်း။ (idle talk; frivolous talk; conversation that is not beneficial to oneself as well as to others)
102. The Wheel of the Dhamma = ဓမ္မစက္က၊ တရားတည်းဟူသော စက်ဝန်း၊ ဘီး၊ ဓမ္မစကြာတရားဦး။ (The First Sermon; The discourse that was delivered earliest by the Buddha is the Dhammacakka.)
