We are super proud to share that two works by our students and alumni have been selected for the "Film Schools" section of the 21st edition of 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶: 𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮 𝗱𝗶 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮, taking place from 18 to 23 August 2026 in Massafra, Italy: 𝘏𝘰𝘧𝘰𝘳 by Egan Mulvaney and 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘺 by Martina Totaro. Both films were made collaboratively between students at the end of the second year of the course. Well done!! 😄

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of filmmaker Justin Hardy. We would like to remember him through two unforgettable moments he gave us in May 2024: the screening of the deeply moving documentary 'Children of the Wicker Man' at the Valletta Campus Theatre, and the lively and engaging talk on the making of the film held at the Faculty of Arts Library. Justin was accompanied by his brother Dominic, Chris Nunn, and Alison Palmer. They were two truly memorable occasions. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Justin's family and loved ones, and especially to his brother Dominic.

Our alumnus Wil Camilleri, now working as Marketing Admin with FPEI, is helping shape an exciting new event designed specifically for creatives, and he would love to hear from members of our M.A. in Film Studies community and beyond.
FPEI supports entrepreneurship, startups, SMEs, and freelancers in Malta through events, training, networking opportunities, and practical initiatives. This upcoming event will focus on equipping creatives with valuable skills in areas such as pitching, funding, marketing, personal branding and protecting creative work.

A wonderful evening celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the power of filmmaking. On Sunday 28 June, the Valletta Campus Theatre hosted the premiere of this academic year's two collaborative short films, 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙖 and 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙏𝙞𝙚𝙨, created by the students of the M.A. in Film Studies.
Every student took on one or more roles in the production process, gaining first-hand experience across every stage of filmmaking. The projects were guided every step of the way by acclaimed filmmakers 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 and 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝘇𝗶, whose expertise and mentorship helped bring these ambitious productions to life.
The students were also supported throughout the production and post-production process by 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗯, led by 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗶, himself an alumnus of the M.A. in Film Studies.
The M.A. in Film Studies programme is sponsored by the 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, whose continued support helps provide students with unique opportunities to develop both their creative and professional skills.
Congratulations to all our students on their dedication, creativity, and outstanding teamwork, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of these productions.

A heartfelt thank you to Prof. Alfred Vella for his years of dedicated service as Rector. We're especially grateful for his support of our initiatives within Italian and Film, and for attending so many of our events over the years.
