Meet Your Sweden Teaching Team 🌲

The heart of every training is the people who hold it.

This summer in Sweden, we’re gathering with teachers whose different paths and perspectives come together to create something deeply supportive, expansive, and alive.

Each brings their own unique approach while sharing a common intention: to create a learning experience that feels grounded, embodied, and transformational.

Meet the team:

✨ Christopher Perkins
Co-founder of Yandara and long-time teacher trainer, Christopher brings over two decades of yoga and meditation experience into his work. His teaching blends movement, philosophy, psychology, and self-inquiry - creating practices that invite depth, freedom, and authentic expression.

🌿 Kari Schein
Kari’s work weaves together yoga, sound, ritual, and connection to the natural world. Influenced by practices that bridge movement with energetic awareness, she creates spaces that invite curiosity, presence, creativity, and meaningful transformation.

💜 Serah Barakat
Founder and teacher at Ohana Yoga Academy, Serah brings an approach rooted in embodiment, nature, and meaningful connection. Her teaching invites students to slow down, listen inward, and experience yoga as a living practice rather than something to perfect. Drawing from years of creating spaces for learning, community, and transformation, she encourages people to reconnect with themselves in ways that feel intuitive, grounded, and deeply human.

Together, this team creates a space where practice extends beyond the mat - into how we move, connect, rest, and live.

We can’t wait to gather in the Swedish forest with you 🇸🇪✨

See you at Shambala!

This is your sign to finally start Journaling...

Sometimes the most transformative practice begins with a question.

In the midst of daily responsibilities, notifications, conversations, and plans, it can be easy to move through life on autopilot. The yogic tradition invites us to pause and turn inward...not to find perfect answers, but to cultivate awareness.

This week, we invite you to spend a few quiet moments with yourself...

✨ A Simple Self-Inquiry Practice
-Find a comfortable seat. Take a few slow breaths.
Then ask yourself:
"What in my life feels most aligned right now?"
-Sit with the question for a few moments before reaching for an answer. Notice what arises naturally.

Then ask:
"What am I being invited to let go of?"
There is no need to solve anything. Simply observe.

In yoga, this practice is known as svadhyaya, one of the foundational practices described in the Yoga Sutras.💜

📖 Journaling Prompts
If you'd like to explore further, spend a few minutes writing on one or more of these prompts:
• What am I currently giving my energy to, and is it nourishing me?
• When do I feel most connected to myself?
• What am I avoiding that deserves my attention?
• What would I do differently if I trusted myself completely?
• What am I grateful for today that I may be overlooking?
Remember: journaling isn't about writing. It's about listening.

Shoshin: The Most Powerful Place to Start

In Zen Buddhism, shoshin (beginner's mind) refers to approaching even the most familiar thing with curiosity. The master, it's said, carries beginner's mind more naturally than the beginner. Because they've learned that the moment you think you know something fully, you stop truly experiencing it.

For the newer practitioner, beginner's mind is your greatest gift: you haven't yet learned to be rigid. For the experienced yogi or teacher, it's the deepest practice of all: to unlearn the accumulated weight of certainty. To teach from a place of wonder, rather than habit.

✨ This summer, Yandara is offering two ways to step into that space...

Nestled in the heart of Sweden's idyllic forest, surrounded by calm lakes and fields of wild blueberries, Yandara's Swedish home at Shambala Gatherings is unlike anywhere else we teach. Days begin with morning yoga as mist rises off the water. Evenings close with kirtan, philosophy, and time in the floating sauna.

This August, we're offering two programs here:

✨ 200 Hr YTT Sweden
August 13-30, 2026
Immerse in heartfelt yoga and meditation, with delicious vegetarian meals, relaxing evenings in the floating sauna, and enriching yogic philosophy sessions around the campfire.

This is one of Yandara's most intimate training experiences. Whether you're stepping onto the teaching path for the first time or returning to deepen your foundation, you'll leave with your Yoga Alliance 200Hr certification and a practice that's genuinely your own.

Perfect for: those new to teaching who want a gentler European setting, and for experienced practitioners ready to formalize and deepen what they already know.

✨ The Living Sequence
August 4-9, 2026
A 5-day immersive retreat for practitioners at any level who want to go deeper into the art of Sequencing. This can be continuing education or a week of pure practice, no certification pressure, just you, the teachings, and a small, intimate group in the forest.

Perfect for: experienced students wanting a reset, teachers seeking fresh creative inspiration, or anyone who knows they need a week away.

Yoga Tip of the Week:

✨ Find your edge, not someone else's ✨

In any pose, your edge is the place where you feel sensation without strain. Where you're challenged but can still breathe freely. Someone else's deepest expression of a pose is not your goal. Your breath is your teacher.

You don't leave the same...

If you’ve been to Yandara before, you already know… People don’t leave the same ☀️

Something shifts.
Something softens.
Something opens.

But what we’re reminded of again and again is this: You don’t come back the same...
And recently, reading through your reflections, we were reminded of this:
It’s not just the training that people remember.
It’s how it felt to be there.

IN YOUR WORDS (from our most recent testimonials)
✨ “The entire program felt so intentional… The experience filled my heart and surpassed my expectations completely.”
✨ “Yandara has and always will hold a special place in my heart… a space to learn, grow and feel confident to share.”
✨ “This is a space where I feel safe, seen, able to be my authentic self, to learn, practice and grow.”
✨ “I still dream of going back… it invited deep personal growth.”

What changes over time
The first time, it might be about learning.
THE SECOND TIME … it often becomes something else.
-You’re less focused on doing it “right”
-More open to feeling and receiving
-More connected to your own voice as a teacher and practitioner

As one student shared:
“I came to learn how to teach… and left having learned how to live yoga.”

🤍 If you’ve been feeling the pull
You might feel drawn to something truly heart-centered, like our Bhakti Yoga program (May 31 – June 10), a space to reconnect through music, devotion, and community.

Or the full 200 Hour immersion, like our June 23-day 200hr training in Baja, which we’re offering at a reduced rate this season.✨✨✨

Or it may be about continuing the journey in a new way, like our Sweden trainings this August: 200 Hour YTT or 50 Hour Advanced Sequencing. There the pace softens and the practice deepens in a different landscape.

Sometimes, it’s simply about coming back to be in the space again.

However it shows up for you, the invitation is there.

Visit our website - link in bio - to see what your next steps are...

If someone comes to mind who hasn’t yet experienced Yandara, please share 🌹

There is something about Sweden...
There are many places you can deepen your practice...however there's something about Sweden…
(special promo below, keep reading 👇🏽)

A quiet kind of magic.
A stillness that invites you inward.
A landscape that doesn’t demand anything from you, yet gently changes you.

Why Sweden?
Our summer trainings in Sweden offer a different rhythm than Baja.
Here, yoga unfolds alongside:
🌅 soft morning light over the forest
✨ cozy evenings in the floating sauna
🌲 the grounding presence of trees and lakes and blueberry fields all around you

It’s a space where things naturally slow down…
and where your practice can deepen in a more subtle, integrated way.

For those ready to go further
If you’ve already completed a 200hr training, this is a beautiful opportunity to continue your journey:

🌿 The Living Sequence – 50hr Advanced Module (August 4–9)
This training is designed to refine and expand how you understand sequencing—not just as structure, but as an intuitive, living practice.
You’ll explore:
-how to create sequences that feel natural and purposeful
-the balance between structure and intuition
-how to guide students into deeper, more meaningful experiences

It’s less about memorizing sequences…
and more about learning how to listen.

Or come back to REVIST foundation...
🌿 200hr Yoga Teacher Training
(August 13-30) *special retake promo*
Coming back a second time often brings a completely new experience:
-teachings land more deeply
-there’s more space to absorb and integrate
-your relationship to the practice evolves
-we welcome anyone who is taking this training for the first time as well

If you're feeling the pull, reach out to us by sending a DM to explore our "retake discount" 💜

You might also know someone who’s standing where you once stood... Curious. Unsure. Feeling the call to explore a YTT. If someone comes to mind, feel free to share this with them. 🤝🏼 Share.

A different kind of experience
Sweden isn’t just another training location.
It’s an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and experience yoga in a way that feels grounded, spacious, and quiet.

We’d love to welcome you.

A 5-Minute Practice... Some days don’t need more effort. They don’t need a longer to-do list, a stronger practice, or a big shift. Sometimes, what we need most… is a pause.

This is a simple 5-minute reset you can return to anytime you feel overwhelmed, scattered, or simply in need of a moment to reconnect.
No mat needed. No experience required.
Just you, your breath, and a little space.

THE 5-MINUTE RESET
✨ Minute 1 - Arrive
Sit or lie down comfortably. If it feels supportive, you can play gentle, soothing music in the background. Close your eyes.
Notice where you are, without trying to change anything.
✨ Minute 2 - Deepen the breath
Inhale slowly through your nose for a count of 4.
Exhale gently for a count of 6.
Let your breath begin to settle your body.
✨ Minute 3 - Soften the body
Bring awareness to your shoulders, your jaw, your belly.
Where can you soften, even slightly?
✨ Minute 4 - Feel
Notice what’s present. Thoughts, sensations, emotions.
No need to fix or analyze. Just observe, and feel the weight of the body, supported by the floor.
✨ Minute 5 - Return
Take one deeper breath.
Gently open your eyes.
Notice if something feels even a little different.

Why this matters
Yoga isn’t only something we do on the mat.
It lives in these small moments:
when we pause instead of push,
when we listen instead of react,
when we give ourselves permission to simply be.
These are the moments that slowly reshape how we move through life.

Want to go deeper?
Practices like this are just the beginning!

At Yandara, we explore how breath, awareness, and presence become part of a more integrated practice, one that supports not just how you move, but how you live.

Whether you’re feeling called to deepen your understanding or simply spend more time in spaces that support this kind of awareness, there are many ways to continue the journey.

If you feel called to join us this year or beyond, take a look at our upcoming trainings... Full list of offerings can be found on our website - yandara.com

✨ Price reduction across all accommodations🙌🏼
A wonderful opportunity to take the course a second time and/or invite a friend 🩷

Most yoga trainings focus on teaching you how to lead a class. At Yandara, we invite you to lead by example: through inner growth and an embodied understanding of yoga, developed through a meaningful and immersive experience.

The practice beyond the poses...
At some point, yoga becomes less about how it looks and more about how it feels to be present.

The breath becomes more interesting than the shape. Stillness becomes as meaningful as movement. Awareness begins to follow you off the mat and into your life.

This is where the real practice begins. It shows up in small moments:
-pausing before reacting
-noticing your breath in a stressful moment
-choosing presence over distraction

Yoga slowly becomes something you live, not just something you do. What deepening your practice looks like as we go beyond the poses often doesn’t require doing more. It means doing things more simply and more consciously.

It might look like:
-staying one extra breath in stillness
-softening effort instead of pushing further
-becoming curious about your inner experience

These subtle shifts are where transformation happens. A different kind of journey - the journey of the inner experience.

✨ For those who feel drawn to explore this deeper dimension of yoga, Yandara is here to support that unfolding.

Practices like breathwork, meditation, philosophy, and stillness become just as central as movement.

We invite you to join us on the journey inward! It's time.
