Making Ecobricks is one of the most practical ways for us to address the issue of plastic waste. But, what can we build with Ecobricks?

That said, Initiative Z’s Creative & Design Team begins our structure exploration from the making of Ecobricks Bench. It consists of two layers of Ecobricks as the main building blocks, integrated with eco-friendly materials such as plywood and hard paper tubes to decorate and strengthen its structural integrity. The bench acts as a modular structure, could be combined to the rest of modules for extra seats and functions. The bench is designed with simple construction method to suit less experience builder for fabrication purpose.

Stay tuned for more interesting Ecobrick applications from us in future. Together let’s keep plastic sequestered over the short-term and the long. If you have any cool ideas, feel free to share with us!

100kg plastic waste challenge

Greetings everyone! Initiative Z ♻️ together with Green Up have decided to have a 100kg plastic waste challenge. We are inviting all volunteers to join us in our fight against plastic pollution!! ✊

The usage of plastic 🛍️ is increasing year by year. The production and disposal of plastic emits greenhouse gases and produce hazardous waste ⛔. Most of the plastics we used is not recyclable and not biodegradable, which will endanger human and causes environmental issue. 🤮

Plastic waste can be found just about anywhere 🌏, from disposable plastic bags we use to mineral bottles. Plastic waste has become a major issue in Malaysia 🇲🇾, endangering both land and marine ecosystems.

In this workshop, participants will be fully guided how on to make Ecobricks and Tetrabrick, as one of our ways to help the current plastic waste problem! 👍 We hope to see you on our event! ☺️

Date 📅: June 25, 2022 (Saturday)
Time ⏰: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Venue 🏫: C407
Capacity 🧑‍🤝‍🧑: 60 Participants
*This event is Free of Charge*

Participants are required to bring the tools as listed below:
1) 1.5L straight plastic water bottle with cap
2) Scissors ✂️
3) Stick (2x height of bottle)

♻️ Get Rewarded When You Recycle ♻️

On this coming Thursday and Friday,
Bring us any used plastic bottles or aluminium cans and you will be rewarded with ELE points!!!

⬇️ Details ⬇️
📌 Location: UCSI Block A Lobby
🗓️ Date: 31st March & 1st April
⌚Time: 12:30p.m. - 2:00p.m.

✅ Reward System ✅
5 plastic bottles or aluminium cans (mixing is allowed) = 22 ELE points

UCSI Initiative Z presents you Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) ⭐ An engineering project dedicated to improving recycling rates in UCSI students. It sorts waste automatically with AI Vision Recognition System and rewards students with ELE points 😆.

To ensure the accuracy of our AI system, the team requires more pictures of the recyclables to train the system.

Hence, RVM project members are setting up a collection booth to allow the UCSI community to contribute to our AI training process.

Thanks for your support 🙏🏻

Plastic waste🛍️ has always been a major environmental concern around the world over the past few decades. To make it worse, the current COVID-19🦠 outbreak has increased the demands of single-use plastic, resulting their waste reduction being much more difficult than previous generations.

Making Ecobricks, is one of the simplest and most practical ways for us to address the issue.🌱

On March 12, 2022, we held our semester-based Ecobricks workshop. From this workshop, we've repurposed approximate 17kg of plastic waste ✅, we also would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all 29 workshop participants and 9 facilitators⭐; we appreciate your time in completing the workshop and making it all so memorable, all while combating a portion of plastic pollution!😊

We hope that this workshop will inspire more people to make Ecobricks as a method for reducing the current plastic pollution problem. See you again, and keep an eye on our page for more exciting events!👋

🌱Ecobrick Workshop🌱

Greetings! Initiative Z ♻️ has returned with yet another Ecobrick Workshop. We are inviting all volunteers to join us in our fight against plastic pollution!! ✊

Although plastic 🛍️ is extremely useful in our daily lives, its production and disposal emit greenhouse gases and hazardous waste ⛔. The vast majority of plastic is not recyclable and does not biodegrade, endangering human and environmental health. 🤮

Plastic can be found just about anywhere 🌏, from disposable bags and bottles to packaging. Waste plastic has now became a major issue in Malaysia 🇲🇾, endangering both land and marine ecosystems.

In this workshop, participants will be fully guided how on to make Ecobricks, as one of our ways to help the current plastic waste problem! 👍 We hope on meeting you soon! ☺️
