1. Lessen the wasted on material
Companies and manufacturing shops have tried to simplify the manufacturing process, which tends to produce a lot of wasted raw material.
3D printing eliminates issues of the wasted of raw material, as it creates a completed and accurate process for mass-producing materials. 3D printing can form the exact shape, design, and format of the desired product without leftover materials. It also has many other ways that it aids mass production, like cutting down manufacturing equipment and time.

2. Health care
Many exciting innovations are happening in the health care field with the invention of 3D printing. One of the most popular ideas currently used in health care is creating personalized prosthetics and orthotics by using 3D printing. Furthermore, this technology will be able to create personalized organs, skin grafts, or mechanical parts to print targeted nanoparticles, food, and pills that are adapted to one's specific symptoms and physiology.
Researchers from Tel Aviv University have 3D printed a human heart using human tissue including blood vessels, collagen, and biomolecules. 3D-printed organs will directly speed up the transplant process, which will save countless lives.

3. Save the environment
3D printing can reduce waste material, offering more sustainable industrial manufacturing alternatives.
In addition,3D printing has been used to study environmental degradation. Researchers from the University of Sydney, have used 3D printing to better understand the effect of climate change on the Great Barrier Reef. Though many 3D printers only accept recycled materials, electricity usage is 50 to 100 times more than traditional production methods.

4. Unique Fashion Solutions
The fashion industry is also starting to put its attention on 3D printing technology.3D printing has begun to infiltrate other parts of the fashion and apparel manufacturing industry. Some companies have decided to invest in 3D printers to streamline their production processes and customize their products while optimizing the quality and performance of their products.

Why use Additive Manufacturing?
1.The cost of this industry continue to fall.
Nowadays, industrial quality printers are affordable,as are common materials.

2.Save on material waste
Additive manufacturing is methodically adding material until a part is created. It starts with laying down a base layer then adding subsequent layers untill the part is completed. Hence, the waste is minimal in overall.

3. Less tools is needed
Additive manufacturing does not require a lots of tools compare against the traditional methods. Just keep the information of the needed part in the cloud throughout the product lifecycle and then print it
on demand.

4.Easy to recreate and optimize legacy parts.
The design can be recreate almost certainly in a 3D printer as long as you have the specs or files.
Hence,it lets the old phsical inventory phase out quickly without having to make awkward apologies to upset end-users.

5.Remove limits on design
Additive manufacturing can create parts that might not be possible with traditional manufacturing methods.
For example, a lattice structure can help you create an object that is lighter and used less materials than solid.

6.Consolidate an assembly into a single part
In traditional manufacturing, complex parts require more manufacturing steps, along with more material and labor costs. With additive manufacturing, the assembly can be printed as a single part ,saving money and time from start to finish.

7.It uniquely supports new AI-Driven methods
Recently design engineers have begun using artificial intelligence -driven generative design to create products.Just need to set the constraints, such as dimensions, material and manufacturing method. Then the technology suggests a number of design meet those requirements. The result is that the designer spends less time iterating on the perfect design and more time engineering it.

8.Small production runs often prove faster and less expensive
If it only require a small quantity of the same part,it is likely faster to print them. Gather design files, printers, and material and you are all set.

🧐What means “additive manufacturing ”???
Since you already know a brief history of Additive Manufacturing, then what it actually refers to?
Additive manufacturing can refer to any process where a product is created by building something up.

The following are the main processes:
1. Binder Jetting
This technique deposit alternating layers of powdered material and a binding liquid to form a 3d object.
2. Directed Energy Deposition
Uses focused thermal energy such as a laser to melt and fuse the material as they are deposited to create a 3d object.
3. Material Extrusion
An additive manufacturing technique that uses a continuous filament of thermoplastic or composite material to construct 3D parts.
4. Powder Bed Fusion
Uses either laser or electron beam to melt and fuse the material to form a 3D geometry part.
5. Sheet Lamination
It uses sheets of material to create 3D objects by stacking them and laminating them using either adhesive or ultrasonic welding.Once the object is built, the unwanted areas of the sections are removed layer by layer.
6. Vat Polymerisation
This process uses a technique called Photopolymerization, in which a vat of liquid resin photopolymer are used to create three-dimensional objects by selectively exposing them to ultraviolet light. When exposed, these materials undergo a chemical reaction and become solid. Only plastics can be printed using these technologies.
7. Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing
It uses arc welding power sources and manipulators to build 3D shapes through arc deposition.

🧐Do you know who started additive manufacturing and commercialized it?
In the 1980s, Stereolithography SLA ( a form of 3D printing) has invented by Dr. Hideo Kodama. Unfortunately, Dr. Kodama's patent application was denied.✨
In 1986s, Chuck Hull patented stereolithography, creating crosslinked layers by curing a liquid photopolymer resin using UV lasers. Hull later commercialized the first rapid prototyping system, greatly reducing the time for designers and engineers to create 3D concepts and prototypes.🔥
In 2005s, the first functional furniture is 3-D printed by French artist Patrick Jouin.
He took the process to a higher level by creating the Solid C2 chair, which looks like interweaving blades of grass. Unlike most of the 3D-printed design objects out there that are usually made as freeform shapes characteristic of the 3D-printing technology, the Solid C2 chair is made from thin wire-like elements that form a wildly complex structure. The chair will be included in the museum’s permanent collection.🤩
In 2013s, a baby's life is saved by a 3D printed splint created by the University of Michigan to help him breathe. Now,3d printing can be organized into several broad categories, including tissue and organ fabrication and etc.🎊
