Nostalgia

Pada ketika YAB Perdana Menteri Malaysia dan YB Menteri Pendidikan membentangkan idea penubuhan sebuah Universiti Terbuka di parlimen, mereka melihat terdapat keperluan sebuah universiti bukan konvensional khusus bagi memastikan semua golongan mempunyai akses pendidikan di Malaysia. Ia penting bagi memastikan setiap rakyat Malaysia memiliki kelulusan peringkat tinggi.

Menurut beliau lagi, Negara pada ketika itu memerlukan rakyat yang berpengetahuan tinggi kerana Malaysia sedang dipacu ke arah ekonomi maju. Sehubungan itu, negara memerlukan rakyat yang berpengetahuan dan mahir dengan keperluan industri moden.
