In conjunction with the 2026 Malaysian National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA 2026) celebration, the HAWANA Media Forum was grandly held on May 7, with a JC lecturer and 4 students participating together ✨

📌 The forum was organised by Bernama and brought together media practitioners, journalists, academics, as well as lecturers and students from various universities to discuss the future development and challenges of the media industry 📝

🗣️ The forum focused on the transformation of the media ecosystem in the age of artificial intelligence, the challenges faced by today’s journalism industry, and the importance of media credibility and social responsibility 💡

📰 Journalism is not only about delivering information, but also about safeguarding the truth and upholding public trust.

🪬 In this era of rapid artificial intelligence development, journalists must remain committed to truth and professionalism.

We’ll also be sharing our real experience visiting an OKU shelter home and reflect on what charity truly means in today’s society.

On 1 May 2026, the DoMedia Team from FCI conducted a workshop titled “Adapting Journalistic Practice for the Digital Age” for the Melaka Journalists Association. The workshop focused on helping journalists transition from traditional reporting to digital storytelling. It was an engaging and hands-on session where participants were able to explore new ideas and tools throughout the workshop.

This Workshop organized by Malacca Journalist Society, Faculty of Creative Industries, Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement (MMLM) and Division of Corporate Communication & Public Relations (DCCPR).

For the first session, members of the DoMedia Team shared different insights and skills. Ms Raja Rodziah began with a session on the paradigm shift in journalism and how the industry is changing today. This was followed by Mr Albarr, who shared practical tips on how to do audio recording effectively. Ms Foo Mei Lee then demonstrated how to edit content using different digital tools, which the participants found very practical and useful.

In the second session, Dr Saw Teck Chew introduced the role of AI in journalism and how it can support their work. This session gave the participants a fresh perspective on the future of media. Overall, the workshop was definitely worthwhile, and we received very positive feedback from the organizer.

On April 27, the Broadcasting students from the Transmedia Studies and Video Editing course, guided by Ms. Iza Sharina and Ms. Foo Mei Lee, had an exciting field trip to RTM Angkasapuri from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Our first stop was Wisma Radio, where the students got a behind-the-scenes look at the Nasional FM and Traxx FM conti. They saw firsthand how radio shows come to life — live radio news to how DJs chat and manage live broadcasts. It was pretty cool to watch everything happening in real time!

Next was Wisma TV, where we checked out the N2 and N3 news studios. The students got to see what a real news studio looks like, green screen, and the news desk. They learned how news is put together and presented on TV, and how the whole team works like clockwork to keep things running smoothly during live shows.

All in all, the trip was super fun and eye-opening. It gave the students a real taste of how radio and TV operate in the real world, building on what they’ve learned in class and inspiration for their future in media and broadcasting.
