🔐 𝗜𝗦𝗢/𝗜𝗘𝗖 𝟭𝟱𝟰𝟬𝟴: 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆

The session on ISO/IEC 15408: Navigating the Certification Journey for System Security was successfully conducted on 6 May 2026 at the Auditorium, IRC Building, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

The programme featured Puan Idayu and Puan Syahirah, experienced security testers from CyberSecurity Malaysia, who shared valuable industry insights on system security evaluation and the certification journey based on the ISO/IEC 15408 Common Criteria standards.

The session was attended mainly by students taking the Software Security subject, particularly from the Software Engineering and Cybersecurity programmes. Throughout the session, students were exposed to security assurance practices, evaluation methodologies, and the importance of certification in developing trusted and secure systems. The speakers also shared practical industry experiences, providing students with a clearer understanding of real-world cybersecurity testing and certification processes.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Puan Idayu and Puan Syahirah for their insightful sharing and meaningful engagement with the students. Special thanks are also extended to CyberSecurity Malaysia for their support and collaboration in making this session a success.

𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 & 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙀𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨

An industry talk titled “Real Industry Practice & Current Trends in Emerging Technologies” was successfully conducted on 29 April 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at BM-0-002 (Theatre), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

The session featured Ts. Kamarul Anuar Abdul Aziz, Senior Vice President, IT Infrastructure & Operation Support at Bank Rakyat Malaysia, a distinguished industry practitioner with over 20 years of experience in IT infrastructure and banking systems.

This industry talk was an initiative by Ts. Dr. Khairi Azhar Aziz, Senior Lecturer at the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), UNITEN, as part of ongoing efforts to bridge academic learning with real-world industry practices.

The talk aimed to provide students with practical insights into the transition from university environments to industry settings. The speaker emphasized the shift from theory-based learning to outcome-driven performance, highlighting the importance of problem-solving skills, adaptability, communication, and ownership mindset.

Key discussions covered the realities of workplace environments and project delivery, particularly in regulated industries such as banking. The importance of adhering to governance frameworks and standards including PCI DSS, COBIT, ITIL, and ISO/IEC 27001 was highlighted to ensure secure, compliant, and reliable system implementation.

The session also explored current trends in emerging technologies,including Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and automation, emphasizing their role in driving digital transformation and enhancing organizational performance.

Overall, the session was highly impactful, providing students with valuable exposure to real industry practices while encouraging them to align their academic knowledge with industry expectations. The initiative successfully enhanced students’ awareness, readiness, and motivation to pursue careers in the IT industry.

The event was assisted by the UNITEN Programming Club (PRO-C), whose support contributed to the smooth ex*****on of the session.
