The Office of International Affairs advocates the advancement of exposure to international education and experiences to enable our students and staff to develop the knowledge and skills for a globally interdependent and diverse world. OIA hosted an online meeting with representatives from the Higher School of Oil on 23 September 2026.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for both institutions to introduce their respective academic strengths, exchange perspectives on internationalisation and shared academic development, explore areas of mutual interest, and discuss potential opportunities for future collaboration in academic exchange, student mobility, research and industry engagement. 🤝🌍

🇲🇾🤝🇩🇪 Strengthening Malaysia–Germany Higher Education Collaboration

UTAR and OTH Regensburg, Germany, have renewed the longstanding ties through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to international education and academic exchange.

Over the years, the two institutions have worked together in student mobility, industry training, Final Year Projects, staff exchanges, postgraduate supervision and academic engagement, creating valuable opportunities for the university communities of both countries.

The renewed agreements will provide a strong foundation for further student and staff mobility, academic exchange, industry engagement and knowledge sharing, while opening new opportunities for future cooperation.

✨ More than an agreement, this enduring relationship serves as a bridge between Malaysia and Germany — connecting people, sharing knowledge and developing talent for the future.

On 14 September, Ir. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR President, and Prof. Dr. Vap Vooi Voon, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology, visited OTH Regensburg, where they met with Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg, and his team to strengthen institutional ties and explore opportunities for continued engagement.

Strengthening Malaysia–China Collaboration in Health Education & Traditional Chinese Medicine

We were pleased to welcome a delegation from the Shanghai Pudong New Area Health Commission for a meaningful visit and MoU exchange at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
The visit provided a valuable platform to explore potential collaboration in health education and traditional Chinese medicine, with particular emphasis on psychology, guidance and counselling, as well as the sharing of knowledge and best practices in healthcare education.

We look forward to strengthening this partnership and creating more opportunities for student mobility, internships, joint research and knowledge exchange between Malaysia and China. 🤝✨

HUATEC Visits UTAR

A dialogue between UTAR and Beijing Huatec Information Technology Co., Ltd. (HUATEC) at UTAR Sungai Long campus on 14 September 2026.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for both parties to exchange ideas and explore opportunities to further strengthen collaboration in industry–academia integration, talent development, technology education, student mobility and joint initiatives.

Discussions also focused on the continued development of the Jingshi Institute, including the enhancement of training facilities, practical learning opportunities and programmes aligned with emerging technology and industry needs.

Together we look forward to establish more meaningful collaborations that connect education, technology and industry for the development of future-ready talent. 🌏🎓💡

UTAR and Chiway Repton High School Xiamen Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Expanding International Education Cooperation and Creating New Opportunities for Students! 🌏✨

On 17 September 2026, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Chiway Repton High School Xiamen, China, held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, formally establishing a partnership to explore new opportunities for international education cooperation.

The collaboration aims to further promote student exchange, educational resource sharing, and internationalisation, creating more opportunities for students and educators from both institutions to learn, interact, and broaden their international perspectives.

We were pleased to welcome representatives from Shandong Energy Group, China for a productive and insightful discussion on opportunities for collaboration in the energy and chemical sectors.

The meeting scheduled on 18 September 2026 brought together representatives from the energy, new materials, chemical, and industrial management sectors. Discussions focused on how industry, academia, and research institutions can work together to support technological innovation and the transition towards more sustainable energy development.

🌸 Strengthening China–Malaysia Collaboration in Medicinal and Edible Flowers 🇲🇾🇨🇳

UTAR is pleased to strengthen its collaboration with the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS), China, through the establishment of the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚–𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐂𝐌-𝐈𝐉𝐋 𝐌𝐄𝐅). 🌱

The joint laboratory will serve as a platform for international collaborative research, knowledge exchange and innovation in medicinal and edible flowers, bringing together expertise from both institutions to explore new opportunities in research, industry and community development.

On 10 September 2026, Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, UTAR Vice-President of International Academic and Development and Academician of the Malaysian Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech at the 2026 International Academic Conference on Agricultural Wellness 📍 Jinan, China, highlighting the importance of international academic and research collaboration.

Dr Goh Wei Lim, UTAR FSc Associate Professor, also presented “Knowledge Transfer Among Researchers, Industry and Community: A Case Study of the Edible-nest Swiftlet Farming in Malaysia”, sharing Malaysia’s experience in translating research knowledge into practical applications that benefit industry and the community.

🤝 Through the CM-IJL MEF, UTAR and SAAS look forward to advancing joint research, nurturing talent, promoting academic exchange and pursuing international research opportunities, while contributing to innovation in medicinal and edible flowers.
