UTP students made their mark at the National Engineering Conference (NEC) 2026, organised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), showcasing innovation and excellence across two prestigious competitions.

𝐁𝐄𝐌 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔Three UTP students were selected as finalists and had the opportunity to showcase their innovative prototypes to 𝗬𝗕 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗶, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀, during the exhibition.

𝐁𝐄𝐌 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔
UTP's multidisciplinary team demonstrated outstanding creativity and innovation, competing against teams from universities and higher education institutions across Malaysia. The team secured the 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 and 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲'𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲, while 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗔𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗿𝗶 was recognised with the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲.

UTP Sweeps Multiple Awards at the 2nd SEDA Innovation Challenge 2026!

Out of 200+ competing teams nationwide and three rigorous stages, our student innovators proved that real-world exposure and a strong research ecosystem give UTP minds the Edge That Puts You Ahead.

Competing at the 7th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2026 at KLCC on 11–12 August, our teams brought home RM8,000 in total cash prizes across multiple categories:

- 2nd Place (Ideation Category A): Team SolarVein (RM2,500)
- 3rd Place (Ideation Category A): Team Tenra (RM1,500) | Advisor: Ms. Easter Joseph
- 3rd Place (Prototype Category B): Team BASALT (RM3,000) | Advisor: Ir. Dr. Fudhail bin Abdul Munir
- Best Video Award: Team BASALT (RM500)
- Best Presenter Award: Team BASALT (RM500)

Chairman of the UTP Board of Directors Pn Farehana Hanapiah, UTP Board Member En Ruslan Halim Islahudin, UTP President and Chief Executive Officer Ir Mohamed Firouz Asnan, and UTP Provost Prof Benjamin Colin Cosh were granted an audience with His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, recently at Istana Perak, Kuala Lumpur.
