The North Borneo University College (NBUC) is the first private university established in the State of Sabah. Established under Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996, recognized by the Ministry of Education Malaysia and a full member of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU, UK). NBUC is a nationally accredited university with a distinguished historical name of North Borneo in acknowledgment of the history and diversity in ethnicity, culture, and language of the State of Sabah. The University was established in 2006 and rebranded to North Borneo University College in March 2015, as the first private university college in Sabah that offers a postgraduate program up to the doctoral level.

The Sabah TVET Symposium 2.0 was successfully held from 9 to 10 July 2025 at Magellan Sutera Harbour, Kota Kinabalu. The event was jointly organised by the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) [IDS], the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Sabah (KSTI), and North Borneo University College (NBUC).

The symposium was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah and Minister of Local Government and Housing, representing 𝗬𝗔𝗕 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗸 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗶 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗷𝗶 𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗶 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗿, Chief Minister of Sabah.

This significant gathering brought together key stakeholders from the industry, education, and government sectors, aimed at enhancing a sustainable TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) ecosystem to drive the development of human capital in Sabah.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all parties and contributors whose support and commitment ensured the success of this important symposium.

North Borneo University College (NBUC) recently made a courtesy visit to the Sabah Fire Director’s Office to explore strategic cooperation in safety, emergency drills, and student development.

The NBUC team, led by 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗷𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Life Long Learning & International), together with Muhammad Nur AlMuta’ali bin Mohamad, Dean of the Faculty of Enforcement and Governance (FACEG), discussed future collaborations aimed at building stronger links between education and security agencies.
