5 MAY 2026- VISIT FROM THE DELEGATION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (JKR) SARAWAK.
The Faculty of Engineering was honoured to host a distinguished courtesy visit from the delegation of the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak. This meaningful engagement marks an important milestone in strengthening collaboration between academia and government agencies towards advancing innovation and sustainable infrastructure development in Sarawak.
We were privileged to welcome:

* Ts. Norman Jan β Senior Assistant Director, Corporate Planning Branch
* Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Kong Chun Zhun β Special Administrative Officer to the Director
The visit featured productive discussions with university leadership and faculty representatives, including Prof. Kaharudin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), the Deans of the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Built Environment, as well as the management teams from both faculties.
The dialogue focused on potential strategic collaborations in several key areas, including:
Innovative and Recycled Building Materials
Exploring sustainable solutions to reduce construction costs and environmental impact.
Geotechnical and Infrastructure Advancement
Collaborative opportunities in road design, slope failure analysis, and geotechnical instrumentation.
By aligning academic expertise with the practical experience and technical capabilities of JKR Sarawak, we hope to drive impactful research, nurture future-ready engineers, and contribute meaningful solutions to the community and nation.
Both parties are looking forward to establishing more meaningful and impactful collaborations in the future, particularly in areas involving research, innovation, technical expertise, and sustainable infrastructure development.
