Assalamualaikum and greetings sahabat warga UM.

1. I would like to inform you that 3rd June 2022, my last day in my
capacity as the Acting Registrar.

2. It has been a total of 544 days in my role as the Acting Registrar.
I have enjoyed every moment of the entire tenure of my capacity and
it has been enlightening for me. It is a fruitful and eye opening
avenue in being able to serve and contribute to this beloved
university of ours.

3. I hereby apologise if there are any instances where I have not met
the expectations of the university and if there are any shortcomings,
directly or otherwise. l also extend my apologies if I have spoken or
done anything deemed hurtful or unjustified.

4. It is indeed an honour to be able to work together with all of you
in serving the university. It has always been and will always be my
sincere intention and drive in uplifting the university's progress and
excellence as reflected in the trust and space given to me in my
capacity in carrying out my duties and responsibilities to the best of
my ability.

5. It is my sincere hope that all of us will remain dedicated,
committed and persistent in spearheading the continuous drive and
pursuit of advancing our university's reputation and profile and in
maintaining our pride in being the flagbearer of the nation's higher
education spectrum, standing tall in the eyes of the world.

6. I dedicate my utmost gratitude and appreciation to all warga UM and
it will always remain my dream and unyielding passion in seeing the
university to break new grounds and chart the next frontier of global
eminence in achieving the quintessence of success.

New SAPT Discussion Workshop
I have just finished a very important discussion and dialogue session yesterday at Pullman Bangsar on the strategic planning for the new SAPT criteria and assessment tools for this year and beyond. It was indeed a fruitful, engaging and productive session with the relevant experts, senior professors and the members of the Management in charting the right course forward in this vital element. The new SAPT will be the game changer and a forward-looking transformational propeller in advancing the quintessence of academic excellence of Universiti Malaya, in galvanising the true potential and quality of our academic and research strength that will in turn achieve our new vision of a truly global university impacting the world. My gratitude and appreciation to the esteemed participants who have contributed their professional arguments and input to the brainstorming and discussion session.

My utmost thanks and appreciation for the recognition given. Indeed I am grateful for all the support in gaining this achievement and I am honoured to make the university and the country proud, with a continuous drive to impact the world and serve the nation.

Alhamdulillah, syukur ke hadrat Allah SWT, Istiadat Konvokesyen Universiti Malaya ke-61 yang melibatkan tujuh belas (17) sidang dan berlangsung selama sembilan (9) hari telahpun berakhir dengan jayanya.

Kejayaan ini tidak akan dapat dicapai tanpa usaha gigih, dedikasi, komitmen yang tidak berbelah bahagi dan semangat pantang menyerah staf di semua peringkat. Ahli jawatankuasa dan semua pihak yang terlibat, yang telah bertungkus lumus membuat persiapan untuk istiadat tersebut sejak beberapa bulan lalu adalah satu contoh semangat kerja berpasukan yang cemerlang dan perkhidmatan berdedikasi.

Pandemik ini juga telah menimbulkan pelbagai gelombang perubahan yang membawa cabaran dan halangan baharu. Walau bagaimanapun, kita berjaya mengatasinya dan meneruskan istiadat konvokesyen kali ini dengan mengutamakan serta menekankan pematuhan kepada garis panduan dan prosedur operasi standard (SOP) yang ditetapkan. Berbekalkan pengalaman masa lalu, warga Universiti yang terlibat terus memberikan perkhidmatan yang luar biasa bagi memastikan istiadat konvokesyen ke-61 berjaya dilaksanakan walaupun berhadapan pelbagai halangan serta keperluan untuk menyesuaikan istiadat dengan mengikut norma baharu serta mematuhi prosedur yang ditetapkan.

Maklum balas positif telah diterima daripada peserta, graduan dan pihak yang terlibat dan rata-rata melahirkan rasa berpuas hati serta merakamkan penghargaan atas usaha menganjurkan istiadat ini.

Oleh yang demikian, saya ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada semua individu yang terlibat dalam menjayakan istiadat konvokesyen UM ke-61. Sesungguhnya, kejayaan untuk menghasilkan satu istiadat yang tidak dapat dilupakan dan amat bermakna bagi semua pihak terutamanya para graduan yang meraikan kejayaan penting dalam perjalanan hidup mereka dengan kejayaan menamatkan pengajian dengan segulung ijazah daripada universiti terulung negara.

Sekalung penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada DYMM Tuanku Canselor, Pro-Canselor, Ahli Lembaga Pengarah, Naib Canselor, Pengurusan Universiti, Dekan/Pengarah, staf Akademik, staf Eksekutif serta staf Operasi di atas sokongan berterusan dan semangat luar biasa dalam menjayakan istiadat konvokesyen ini.

Kepada semua graduan dan penerima anugerah serta ahli keluarga, sekali lagi saya ingin merakamkan ucapan tahniah yang tidak terhingga atas kejayaan dan pengiktirafan atas kecemerlangan akademik yang luar biasa.

Terima kasih sekali lagi kepada seluruh warga kampus atas kejayaan menganjurkan Istiadat Konvokesyen Universiti Malaya ke-61 yang penuh bersejarah, bermakna dan tidak dapat dilupakan.

Greetings to campus community

Praise be to Allah that the 61st Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaya has just concluded with great success, spanning over 17 sessions over a 9-day period.

This achievement will not be possible without the hard work, dedication, commitment and the unyielding spirit and vigor of all staff at all levels, the committee members and all parties involved who have been dedicated in preparing for the event for the past couple of months. You have been a stellar example of teamwork and dedicated service.

The pandemic has brought upon unprecedented barriers with different waves of severity that pose additional challenges. We managed to persevere and to proceed with this edition of the ceremony with continued adherence to standard guidelines and procedures. The members involved have greatly adapted to the new norms and continued to provide exceptional service in ensuring the event will be a success amidst the various obstacles in place, having garnered useful experience and capacities from the past.

From the initial review from the participants, graduands and the parties involved, they have expressed their overall contentment and appreciation for the effort shown.

As such, we would like to extend our utmost gratitude, thanks and appreciation to all individuals involved in making this a success for everyone, particularly for the graduands in producing a memorable occasion to celebrate and appreciate their momentous glory in their life journey, in marking a significant academic chapter by graduating from the nation's top university.

A token of gratitude and appreciation to HRH Tuanku Chancellor, Pro-Chancellors, the Board Members, the University Management team including the Vice Chancellor and the entire management team as well as the Deans, academic staff, executives and operational staff for your continuous support and monumental spirit and vigour in making this a success.

To all the graduands, recipients of awards and recognitions and the family members, we would like to once again extend our heartiest and deepest congratulations and best wishes for your success and achievements, as reflected in this culmination of your academic eminence.

Thank you once again to the whole campus community for a historic, meaningful and memorable Convocation Ceremony.
