Thai Studies Program was established as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Royal Thai Embassy (RTE) and University of Malaya (UM) on 13 September 2013. The idea to establish a Thai Studies Program was first suggested at a meeting between both sides on 16 January 2012. Subsequent meetings and discussions between UM and the RTE took place and in May 2013, Mr. Songsak Saiche
