LAW IN CONTEXT: AIKOL MONTHLY ONLINE TALK SERIES

Legal education is predominantly doctrinal in nature: students learn what the law says through statutes, cases and textbooks. Comparatively less attention is given to how law operates in society, how it is shaped by history, culture, religion and literature, and how it is experienced by ordinary people. This gap between “law in books” and “law in action” has long been a central concern of socio-legal scholarship.

The “Law in Context” series responds to this gap by inviting scholars who study law from interdisciplinary perspectives to engage with the IIUM community on a monthly basis.

Law and Society: From Law in Books to Law in Action

Join us for the inaugural session with an engaging virtual talk exploring the relationship between law and society, and the journey from law in books to law in action.
