Fakulti Sastera dan Sains Sosial, Universiti Malaya merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada Encik Ashrul Ashrin Abdullah atas segala jasa, komitmen dan sumbangan beliau sepanjang berkhidmat di fakulti sejak 1 April 2019 sebagai Pembantu Khidmat Am di Jabatan Sains Perpustakaan & Maklumat dan Rancangan Pengajian Gender.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Universiti Malaya extends its warmest congratulations to

Associate Professor Dr. Helena Muhamad Varkkey
Department of International and Strategic Studies, FASS

on her prestigious appointment as the Prince Claus Chair for Equity and Development 2025–2027 at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

This distinguished appointment is a testament to her outstanding academic achievements, internationally recognised research expertise, and significant contributions to the fields of Transboundary Haze Governance and environmental politics.

We are especially proud that Associate Professor Dr. Helena Muhamad Varkkey is the first Malaysian academic to receive this prestigious honour, marking a historic milestone for both Universiti Malaya and Malaysia.

The FASS community also gratefully acknowledges her dedicated service as Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation) from September 2022 to February 2026, during which she played a pivotal role in strengthening the Faculty's research culture, fostering academic collaborations, and advancing research excellence.

May this remarkable achievement continue to inspire our academic community and further strengthen Universiti Malaya's presence on the global stage.
