Research Projects

There are several research focus groups within the laboratory. The areas of research include the pharmacogenomics of epilepsy, pharmacogenomics of several psychological disorders including drug addiction, pharmacogenomis of metabolic disorders, obesity, pre-term labour and asthma; and genetics of immuno-pharmacology. The main source of funding has been the High Impact Re

search Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education, also from the University Malaya Research Grant (UMRG). Most of the postgraduate students have also obtained the University Malaya postgraduate research grants (PPP). The research team are also looking into research collaborations that will bring in external funding. Equipment
The Pharmacogenomic Laboratory is equipped for molecular and tissue culture research. All basic equipment like thermal cyclers, centrifuges, autoclave, incubators, gel documentation system are available.

Dear all,

We are looking to recruit Graduate Research Assistant(s) to work in a project entitled “Elucidating the role of tetraspanin L6 domain family on phenotypes and chemoresistance of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Investigation on microRNAs and Aptamer-Based Treatment”. The candidate will work in a full-time research position at the University of Malaya.

The candidate must fulfill the requirements as below:
1. Possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree with CGPA 3.0 and above in either Biology, Biomedical Science. Medical Science, Genetics, Pharmacology, Pharmacy or related disciplines;

2. Willing to register into a Master/PhD program within 6 months after being successfully recruited;

3. Able to write and converse well in English with strong reporting and documentation skills;

4. The candidate is dedicated and passionate towards research;

5. Candidate must be hardworking, independent, self-motivated and have good interpersonal skills;

6. Malaysian candidate preferred.
