A Retrospective on the Malaysia-Japan Strategic Partnership: Engineering a Resilient Palestine 🇲🇾🤝🇯🇵
Today, we look back at a highly impactful joint initiative hosted by the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) on July 30, 2026 📅. Held at the Azman Hashim Hall at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur 📍, the event was dedicated to advancing sustainable infrastructure, capacity building, and humanitarian resilience for Palestine 🇵🇸🏗️.
This collaborative effort, supported by UTM, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), united key international figures to forge actionable frameworks for rebuilding and empowerment 🌍. The morning commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests, including the Vice-Chancellor of UTM, Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Shafry bin Mohd Rahim, and the President of JICA, Prof. Dr. Akihiko Tanaka 👔. We were also honored by the presence of His Excellency Jehad Fouad Alqdra, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malaysia, and His Excellency Shikata Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia 🤝.
Key highlights from the comprehensive program included:
-✍️ Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Signing Ceremony: A pivotal milestone formalizing the joint commitments between the participating institutions, held following keynote speeches from UTM and JICA leadership.
-🗣️ Palestine Leadership Conversation: An engaging panel session centered on the theme "Building Palestine Through Higher Education," which featured a foundational dialogue with H.E. Jehad Fouad Alqdra.
- 🏛️ Distinguished Leadership Address: A strategic vision segment focused on rebuilding nations through knowledge and sustainable leadership, delivered by Mrs. Ghada Alhaddad, an architect and member of the Palestinian Community Committee in Malaysia.
- 🌱 Future Builders Leadership Sharing: An inspiring address titled "A Student Leader’s Journey of Hope, Knowledge and Aspiration," presented by Ms. Maysaa Awad, President of the International Student Society (ISS), Palestine UTM.
