MJIIT was pleased to welcome 33 third- and fourth-year Computer Engineering students from the University of Mindanao, Davao and Tagum, Philippines, for an educational and academic exposure visit to Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to explore UTMβs academic environment, advanced engineering education, research activities, emerging technologies, and laboratory facilities, while strengthening academic and cultural exchange between Malaysia and the Philippines.
The programme began with an Introduction to UTM by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azaliah Binti Abu Bakar, Associate Director of UTM International Office, Kuala Lumpur, followed by an Introduction to MJIIT, including its computer science-related academic programmes, postgraduate opportunities, research activities and facilities, presented by Dr. Siti Nur Aishah Khadijah Binti Ibrahim.
The students also visited several research laboratories at MJIIT, including:
πΉ Pattern Recognition and Automation (PRA) iKohza, where Dr. Mohd Amiruddin bin Zainol shared insights into the research and activities conducted by the group.
πΉ Advanced Precision Laboratory, where Mr. Hairul Lail bin Ismail introduced the students to the laboratory facilities, technologies and related engineering applications.
Madam Hasparina and her team also introduced the students to the Japanese Language and Cultural Centre (JLCC), including its programmes and activities.
Through this visit, the students gained valuable exposure beyond the classroom and a closer understanding of current developments in engineering, technology and research at UTM and MJIIT.
We hope this visit will inspire greater international learning, future academic collaboration, and continued engagement between UTM-MJIIT and the University of Mindanao.
Thank you to our guests from the Philippines for visiting us, and we look forward to welcoming you again! π²πΎπ€π΅π
