IPOH, 02 May 2026 — The Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), Textile & Fashion Design Department
successfully launched its exhibition, Labour of Batik: Patience, Precision, Sensitivity, today at 22 Hale
Street Heritage Gallery, Ipoh, Perak Malaysia.
The exhibition was officially launched by YB Thulsi Manogaran, ADUN Buntong under the Ipoh Barat
constituency.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by YB Goh See Hua, ADUN Pasir Pinji under the Ipoh
Timor constituency, marking a notable occasion with the presence of two state assembly
representatives at the event.
In her officiating speech, YB Thulsi Manogaran expressed her admiration for the remarkable talent and dedication demonstrated by the students of the Malaysian Institute of Art’s Textile and Fashion Design
Department. She highlighted that the exceptional quality of the batik works, especially within the given
timeline, reflects the high standard of teaching and learning within the institution.
Meanwhile, YB Goh See Hua encouraged greater efforts in promoting Malaysia’s unique art and craft
heritage as a means of attracting tourism.
He emphasized that showcasing local artistic excellence can help position Malaysia — particularly Perak and Ipoh — as must-visit destinations for cultural tourism.
Also in attendance was Puan Zuraida, Chief Operating Officer of Perak Tourism, alongside distinguished
guests, art enthusiasts, academics, students, and supporters.
The exhibition highlights the patience, precision, and sensitivity involved in the art of batik-making while
celebrating its rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
The event aims to inspire greater appreciation
for batik as an important artistic and cultural tradition.

《Labour of Batik: Patience, Precision, Sensitivity》蜡染艺术展览开幕礼。
此次展览由 文冬州议员(Ipoh Barat)YB Thulsi Manogaran 正式主持开幕仪式,并由
巴西槟榔州议员(Ipoh Timor)YB Goh See Hua 致欢迎词。两位州议员同时出席活动,
为此次展览增添意义。
在开幕致词中,YB Thulsi Manogaran 对马来西亚艺术学院染织与服装设计系学生所展现
出的卓越才华与艺术投入表示高度赞赏。她指出,学生们在有限时间内完成如此高质量的
蜡染作品,充分体现了学院卓越的教学水平与学习成果。
