A MEETING WITH THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Today, Dato' R. Rajendran (Honorary Chairman of Educoop) and Mr Lee Seng Chee (Advisor of Educoop) met with YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia at his office in Putrajaya. YB Datuk Mustapha shared on the current developments in his ministry and specifically on initiatives to advance TVET in this country. Malaysia celebrated National TVET Day on 2nd June 2024 and YB Datuk Mustapha is confident that with the right skills and training, the country will be able to produce a quality workforce, which can compete at the global level.

Dato' Rajendran highlighted the recent scoring of Malaysia at the Human Flight and Brain Drain Index, calculated based on the hard as well as survey data, where Malaysia with a score of 4.4 in 2022 deteriorated to a score of 7.5 in 2023, which is significantly higher than in the year before the pandemic. The world average stood at 5.10 index points in 2023.

Educoop's inaugural charity golf event, the Didik Golf Tournament 2024, held at Danau Golf Club, Universiti Kegangsaan Malaysia (UKM) yesterday was a tremendous success. The participants came from all walks of life with the youngest participant at 14 years of age and the oldest, 79 years of age. Among them were 3 ambassadors, namely H.E. U Aung Soe Win from Myanmar, H.E. Ardasher Saeedjaafar Qodiri from Tajikistan and H.E. Air Chief Marshal Sumangala Dias from Sri Lanka. The half-day fun-filled event raised some RM38,000 for charity and ended with lunch, lucky draws, prize-giving ceremony, a mock cheque presentation of monies raised to CSR Malaysia and an appreciation ceremony to thank the sponsors of the event.
