A group of Rakhine people from Ngakhura and Chan Pyin villages have been roaming around Rohingya villages with sticks, knives and weapons, searching for missing person. The AA’s forces have been blocking northern Rohingya villages, forcing Rohingya residents to starve in the open fields of each village, and forcing them to leave their homes in the sun. AEN’s Rohingya source said that the local Rohingya community in the north is in fear and is preparing to flee en masse.
It is reported that the AA has been carrying out a brutal crackdown on Rohingya villagers in Shaa Kaung Taung and Pwin Phyu Chaung.
“The entire village, including children and adults were forced to spend the whole day in the fields. The AA forces searched the houses and even destroyed household items,” a witness who was contacted by AEN news agency said.
At least three Rohingya villagers were taken away by the AA this morning during the AA clearing operation in Shaa Kaung Taung village, and one Rohingya was stabbed to death by AA troops as reported by a local Rohingya resident.
It is also reported that U Shay Kyar and Thayet Oo villages have also been cordoned off, with no one allowed to leave the village.
Maungdaw Township, The AA has blocked the north and its brutal crackdown could lead to further displacement, said an analyst.
A group of around 50 Rakhine men armed with sticks and knives from Maungdaw Township are said to be roaming around Rohingya villages in the North, keep shouting "Kalar, go away, Bengalis, go back to your country."
The local Rohingya community said that the Arakan Army (AA) is failing to take action to prevent the Rakhine group from engaging in harmful activities that are causing anger, similar to the situation during the 2012 period when people went missing.
