IEM Student Chapter is the official Institute of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Student Section in UCSI University. The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) is one of the largest professional organization in the country that was established to promote and advance the science and profession of engineering in any or all of its disciplines and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas relate
d to engineering. IEM has 16 Technical Divisions and 4 Special Interest groups to support the multidisciplinary needs of engineering practice. The organization proactively organizes various activities to nurture world-class engineers and acts as a platform for professional networking. In UCSI University Kuala Lumpur campus, IEM Student Chapter was established:
- To enlighten students of UCSI University on the route to become professional engineers
- To organize educational activities in the form of forums, exhibitions, industrial visits, and other events conducive to the promotion of the engineering profession
- To serve as a bridge between IEM and UCSI University for the registration of students as members of IEM
- To promote events organized by IEM to engineering students at UCSI University
- To provide opportunities for students to connect and network with experienced practicing engineers from IEM
IEM Student Chapter stands out among other engineering societies in UCSI University as the members comprise of students from all engineering disciplines. Through organizing and participating in the events, the exchange of ideas from different perspectives and expertise effectively stimulate students to think out of the box in problem solving. Besides the different events organized in each long semester, IEM Student Chapter is also in charge of organizing the Engineering Ring Ceremony for the graduating students, which is a long standing tradition in UCSI University and a meaningful event for students who are about to embark on a new phase in their engineering journey.
