Too often that we are being stuck in a busy environment or assuming that guidance from others is a matter of course, we often forget about the power of smile, appreciation and encouragement.💛
However, doing a small kind act mentioned above could have potentially make a day of others!

Here are 3️⃣ suggestions to express your kindness:

1) Offering help to others. It may be a good idea to lead a lost stranger, or just simply help them to hold the door open while they are coming in with a rush. Assisting someone that are carrying heavy object is also a nice way to support others.

2) Being an active listener. Instead of passively hearing, we should be actively listening on what others are talking about. Pay close attention to each sentence or body language response from them as communication requires speakers and listeners.

3) Praise to enlighten others. It is a fact that everyone loves being complimented especially when we are not confident. Therefore, we shouldn’t hesitate to motivate others by using some uplifting phrases such as “What a genius!”, “You look gorgeous!”, “Well done!”, “I’m impressed with your splendid idea!”.

At the same time, don’t forget to practice self-compassion as it is crucial to boost up your self-confidence.

Kindness is free, do sprinkle it!💦

Reacting to stress in a healthy way can give us the jump-start that we need to look for effective solutions to our problems. In order to deal with stress in a healthy manner, we need to implement some self-care strategies into our lives. The following are some effective ways of reducing the stress we face on a daily basis:

Make time for your hobbies:
Spending time on your hobbies can be difficult during the fast pace of normal life, but if you find yourself with extra free time while self-isolating, dedicate some of it to relaxing activities like reading, watching TV, or painting. Distracting yourself with an activity you love can go a long way towards relieving your stress.

Treat yourself with nutritious food:
When we feel stressed out, we often have a tendency to try to comfort ourselves by eating unhealthy foods, which only leads to negative feelings about ourselves afterward. Become more mindful of your eating habits when you are dealing with pressure, and have some healthy snacks on hand to fall back on.

Meditate a while:
Start a meditation practice, which can lead to lowered stress levels and a sense of greater equanimity. If sitting in meditation feels too daunting for you, practicing relaxation for 10 minutes a day can bring about many healing benefits for your mind and body.

Talk about it
If you’re struggling with a lot of stress, don’t be afraid to confide in a friend or family member you trust. They may be able to give you some helpful advice, but even if they can’t, simply putting your concerns or fears into words can often feel like a weight off your chest.

National stress awareness day is happening in every first wednesday of November, which is today, 3th of November. It is founded by Carole Speirs, the chairman of International Stress Management Association (ISMA), to reduce, manage and recognise how stress affects our health. ⚡

We often experience stress in our daily life, which typically being categorise as 3 types of stress, acute stress, episodic acute stress and chronic stress.

1) Acute stress: This kind of stress is our body immediate response which is quite good to boost up ourselves in order to adapt in the new and challenging situation, such as feelings stress while the dateline of the project is coming soon.

2) Episodic acute stress: Having frequent episodes of acute stress, often worrying about crisis will happen after you had just undergoing it. Certain jobs like firefighters or doctors that require to 24 hours shifts, is more likely to experience this kind of stress.

3) Chronic stress: experiencing stress over a long period of time such as one month causing headaches, anxiety, upset stomach, depression and cardiovascular disease. Your body will become fatigue, weakening the immune system.

Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain caused by adverse circumstances. At one point or another, most people deal with feelings of stress. Here are some physical symptoms:

Getting sick easily:
If you feel like you’re constantly battling a case of the sniffles, stress may be to blame. Stress may take a toll on your immune system and can cause increased susceptibility to infections. For example, in one study, 61 older adults were injected with the flu vaccine. Those with chronic stress were found to have a weakened immune response to the vaccine, indicating that stress may be associated with decreased immunity. However, a weakened immune system can also be the result of a poor diet, physical inactivity and certain immunodeficiency disorders.

Changed appetite:
When you feel stressed out, you may find yourself either with no appetite at all or ravenously raiding the refrigerator in the middle of the night. In a study of 129 people, exposure to stress was associated with behaviours like eating without being hungry and these changes in appetite may also cause fluctuations in weight during stressful periods. Other possible causes of appetite changes include the use of certain medications or drugs, hormonal shifts and psychological conditions.

Chronic Pain:
One study made up of 37 teenagers with sickle cell disease found that higher levels of daily stress were associated with increases in same-day pain levels. Another study showed that people with chronic pain had higher levels of cortisol in their hair, an indicator of prolonged stress. Besides stress, there are many other factors that can contribute to chronic pain, such as aging, injuries, poor posture and nerve damage.

Insomnia
Stress may also disrupt sleep and cause insomnia, which can lead to low energy. One small study found that higher levels of work-related stress were associated with increased sleepiness and restlessness at bedtime. Another study of 2,316 participants showed that experiencing a higher number of stressful events was significantly associated with an increased risk of insomnia.

This will be the last part of the myths and clarification about therapy! We hope that everyone gained some knowledge!

1. Therapists are all the same: Therapists represent a diverse group of people and have unique levels of experience, training, specialities, and expertise. No two therapists offer exactly the same treatment; if one therapist does not meet your needs there are other choices.

2. It's too expensive : Many health insurance plans cover counselling, some therapists offer sliding scale fees, and certain non-profit organisations provide affordable therapy options. The cost of therapy is an investment in your emotional and physical well-being.

3. It will make you feel worse: One of the most common fears is that a therapist will force you to face painful or frightening material before you are willing. Good therapy never forces people into traumatic memories; skilled therapists can guide people safely through the process of healing trauma or difficult emotions without overwhelming them.

We’re back with more myths about therapy!

1. It's a sign of weakness: Knowing when to ask for help or seek for support is a sign of strength and self-awareness. As with a physical ailment, there need not be any shame in seeking treatment for mental health issues.

2. It's not scientific : Many therapists utilize techniques, modalities, and theories that have been rigorously studied and researched. Many contemporary therapists incorporate knowledge about evidence-based treatments and neuroscience into their practice.

3. It requires medication: Most therapists do not prescribe medication, through they can refer you to a psychiatrist if drugs are recommended. It is your choice to pursue psychotropic medication.

There are always some misunderstanding about therapy, so today, we will be sharing some myths about therapy and we hope it helps clarify your confusion.

1. It’s for crazy people: Therapy can be effective for learning to cope with everyday stressors, improving relationships, developing a stronger sense of self, and managing common issues such as life adjustment and family problems. Furthermore, therapists do not label people, including those with mental health diagnoses as crazy.

2. It’s just talk therapy: There are many different types and models of therapy. Some alternatives of talk therapy include or somatic therapy, art, movement, play, wilderness, and animal-assisted therapy.

3. It’s never ending: Most therapist work with their clients to identify treatment goals at the start of therapy. Sessions can be brief interventions or ongoing depending on the needs of the client.

Do you know that being sad and being depressed is actually not the same?

Many people would tend to categorize sadness and depression into the same category. However, this is far from the truth as sadness is only a mood while depression is actually a clinical disorder that would affect a person’s health. Symptoms of sadness will include feelings of sorrow and unhappiness from an unfortunate event or unexpected event. On the other hand, symptoms of depression would be much more serious as it includes feelings of worthlessness, loss of sleep and appetite, feelings of guilt, low self-worth and so much more. Next, symptoms of sadness would only last a short amount of time and would get over it easily. Conversely, symptoms of depression would be much more persistent as compared to sadness as it could last up to more than 2 weeks.

The main difference between people diagnosed with clinical depression and sadness is that people with clinical depression tend to lose interest in things they used to enjoy in the past. Conversely, people with sadness would tend to do things they love to make themselves feel better. Next, those who’ve been diagnosed with clinical depression would have suicidal thoughts while people with sadness don’t have suicidal thoughts. Lastly, people who are diagnosed with clinical depression can be treated by using therapy and medication such as antidepressants while people who are sad do not require any therapy or medication.
