The Secretariat of English Language Linguistics and Literature (ELITS) is an official kulliyyah based student unit under the Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences Students’ Society (IRKHSSS). ELITS was formed to represent and serve the interests of English Language and Literature undergraduate students at the International Islamic University Malaysia. ELITS functions as a platform where st

udents get to engage with their fellow peers, faculty members, academicians and professionals both on and off campus, in an intellectually stimulating environment. We organise events and projects that aim to enhance students’ learning experience on campus as well as to expose them to the variety of industrial and academic prospects of an English Language and Literature graduate. The Secretariat also allows students to display their leadership, management and networking skills in organising programmes and reaching out to the public. We foster interest and awareness among students that will ultimately help them realise their innate potential.

[MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE]

‎ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

It is with heartfelt sympathy and deep condolences that we would like to inform the news of the passing of our former rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Kamal bin Hassan this morning. Our deepest condolences go out to the family, may Allah grant them peace and comfort during this time of grief.

After the Dhuhur prayer today, SHAS Mosque will organise Solat Ghaib, and everyone is welcome to attend for the final send-off.

May Allah shower upon his soul by granting him eternal peace in Jannah. Ameen Ya Rabb Al-Ameen.

*[SALAAM ISRA' MI'RAJ 🌙]*

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

Isra' Mi'raj is dedicated for the day when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) travelled from Mecca to Jurusalem, and then to heaven. It is also the day when one of the pillars of Islam (صلاة) was bestowed upon us.

Let's honour this miraculous journey by engaging in the following acts of worship:

1. Perform Tahajjud prayer
2. Recite and reflect on Surah Al-Isra'
3. Engage in extra prayers
4. Give charity
