ZIARAH MAHABBAH: SUPPORTING A FUTURE STUDENT’S JOURNEY AT IIUM CENTRE FOR NATURAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES,
KUANTAN CAMPUS
Every student has a story, and every journey to higher education begins with a dream.
For Syahirani Akma Mahmood from Bachok, Kelantan, that dream is to pursue the Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Honours) at the Kulliyyah of Science, as a direct-intake student for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Syahirani will be the first among three siblings to pursue a degree at a public university, making this milestone a meaningful achievement not only for herself, but also for her family. Both of her parents are persons with visual disabilities, which further limits the family's ability to provide financial support for her education.
The Welfare, Entrepreneurship and Alumni Department (WEA), IIUM Kuantan took the initiative to reach out to Syahirani and her family through a home visit in Bachok, Kelantan.
For WEA, this outreach is more than just a visit. It reflects our commitment to reach out, listen, understand and support our students — even before they set foot on campus.
In line with the aspirations of the Minister of Higher Education, IIUM remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind of the opportunity to pursue higher education.
