Alhamdulillah, grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Visiting Professor and Academic Collaboration Programme at ITEKESMU KALBAR, Indonesia, held from 11โ€“13 May 2026.

The visit, represented by Asst. Prof. Dr Patimah Abdul Wahab, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hanida Hani Mohd Mokhtar, and Prof. Dr Azlina Daud, provided a meaningful platform to strengthen academic and clinical collaboration between institutions. The activities included academic collaboration discussions, guest lectures, postgraduate programme promotion for opportunities to pursue studies at IIUM, and visits to the teaching and learning facilities at ITEKESMU KALBAR.

We also had the opportunity to visit the wound clinic at PKU Muhammadiyah Kitamura and Klinik Kitamura, both impressively led by nurses, as well as PUSKESMAS, a community health clinic. These visits enriched our understanding of nurse-led clinical services, healthcare delivery, and potential areas for future research and clinical collaboration.

This collaboration reflects the importance of shared knowledge, professional networking, and continuous efforts to enhance nursing education, clinical practice, and research. May this small step grow into greater opportunities and bring benefit to both institutions, the nursing profession, and the wider community.

The Kulliyyah of Nursing (KON), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), proudly celebrates the participation of Associate Professor Dr. Haliza Hasan in the Visiting Professor Program at the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, held from 4โ€“8 May 2026.

This prestigious programme aimed to strengthen international academic collaboration, enhance nursing education, and foster global research networking between KON, IIUM and UNDIP. The continuation of the scholarship is subject to semesterly evaluation, based on satisfactory research progress and academic performance.

Recipients of the IIUM PG Ummatic Scholarship for International PhD Students are required to:
1. Graduate within the specified Graduation on Time period as defined by the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, IIUM. Any delay beyond the ninth semester may result in a penalty.
2. Demonstrate commitment to research by publishing in high-impact journals,with a minimum of four indexed journal publications.
3. Contribute actively to university programmes and community engagement initiatives.
4. Participate in the annual Postgraduate Colloquium and 3-Minute Thesis Competition organised by CPS, IIUM.

It has been nearly three months since the 2nd of March 2026 passed by, a hallowed and defining date that fell during the blessed month of Ramadan, marking the official commencement of our Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) via Open and Distance Learning (ODL) at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM which also the first ODL programme ever launched in IIUM as a whole and the first Bachelor degree nursing programme via ODLmode among the Malaysian Public Institutions of Higher Learning.

We began this journey with an initial cohort of 30 students, a community that has since flourished to 37 pioneers following our second intake in early April 2026. This milestone represents a significant leap forward in flexible, high-quality healthcare education, and we are immensely proud of how far our students have come in such a short time.

The Taaruf Programme and the deeply moving Student Oath Ceremony were held at the Auditorium of the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM Kuantan, serving as a solemn and proud beginning for this new chapter. We were deeply honoured to have the ceremony officiated by Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Faris bin Ismail, Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalisation) of IIUM. The event was further graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Jamalludin Bin Ab. Rahman (Campus Director, IIUM Kuantan Campus), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Arifin Bin Kaderi (Deputy Campus Director, IIUM Kuantan Campus), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamil Che Hasan (Dean of KON), alongside the dedicated kulliyyah's members.

Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM had the honour of hosting a meaningful discussion session with Open University Malaysia (OUM). The OUM delegates represented by the Director of Kuantan Learning Centre Ms. Razalina Abdul Rashid.

The session focused on exploring potential collaborations in postgraduate education and research, particularly in advancing the field of nursing and healthcare. This engagement marks an important step towards strengthening academic partnerships and fostering knowledge exchange between both institutions.
