At this very moment, the grand opening ceremony for our two-day conference is unfolding. We are profoundly honoured to have this prestigious gathering officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, the Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

The gravity of this occasion is further elevated by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail, Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalisation) of IIUM, alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamil Che Hasan, Dean of the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM.

This morning, beneath the serene skies of Sarawak, we marked a momentous first step towards the 9th International Research Conference of the World Society of Disaster Nursing (WSDN) 2026 (Wsdn2026)

At precisely 9:05 am, the advance delegation of our dedicated working committee touched down at Kuching International Airport, having journeyed from Kuantan. They were greeted with customary warmth by our esteemed local partner, Mdm Pei Ying of Amansar Travel & Tours, whose gracious welcome beautifully set the tone for the days ahead.

Fuelled by passion and an unwavering commitment to excellence, the team forwent rest. They proceeded immediately to the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), conducting a meticulous site inspection to ensure a flawless experience for our global delegates.

We are profoundly honoured and spirited to be hosting over 150 distinguished participants from 12 nations for this prestigious gathering. As we await the arrival of our remaining committee members who will take flight later today, the atmosphere of anticipation is truly palpable.

​51 – 100 (Moderate): Acceptable air quality; however, sensitive individuals may experience minor irritation.

​101 – 200 (Unhealthy): General public may begin to experience health effects; sensitive groups (children, elderly, asthmatics) are at higher risk. (Current Level: 159)

​201 – 300 (Very Unhealthy): Health alert triggering serious health effects for the entire population.

​> 300 (Hazardous): Emergency conditions; severe health warning for everyone.

Alhamdulillah, the Program Murid Sihat & Selamat (Series 2) was successfully conducted on 9 September 2026 at SK Pandan.

This programme is a continuation of Series 1, which was previously held on 30 September 2025, reflecting an ongoing commitment to enhance schoolchildren’s knowledge, awareness, and practices related to health and safety.

Through Series 2, the pupils once again had the opportunity to participate in engaging, interactive, and meaningful learning activities, with emphasis on developing practical awareness and skills that can be applied in their daily lives.

Our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thank you to the school management, teachers, and the entire SK Pandan community for their excellent cooperation, support, and warm hospitality throughout the programme.

We hope that this meaningful collaboration will continue in the future and bring lasting benefits to the pupils and the wider school community.
