Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Salam Sejahtera.
Alhamdulillah, setinggi-tinggi kesyukuran dipanjatkan ke hadrat Allah SWT kerana dengan limpah kurnia-Nya kita sekali lagi diberi kesempatan untuk menyambut Hari Raya Aidilfitri yang mulia ini setelah sebulan menunaikan ibadah puasa di bulan Ramadan yang penuh keberkatan.
Di kesempatan yang penuh bermakna ini, saya ingin merakamkan ucapan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin kepada seluruh warga Jabatan Ortopedik Hospital USM Network, alumni, para pesakit, pelajar-pelajar, staf-staf dan semua kenalan di muka buku ini. Semoga Syawal yang menjelang ini membawa kegembiraan, keberkatan serta mengeratkan lagi hubungan silaturahim sesama kita.

Saya juga ingin mengambil kesempatan ini untuk merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada semua staf akademik, pegawai perubatan, jururawat, kakitangan sokongan serta semua yang terlibat secara langsung atau tidak langsung dalam memastikan perkhidmatan ortopedik terus diberikan dengan penuh dedikasi, profesionalisme dan komitmen yang tinggi kepada para pesakit.

Semoga semangat Ramadan yang telah kita lalui bersama dapat terus menyuburkan nilai keikhlasan, kesabaran dan semangat kerjasama dalam kita melaksanakan amanah dan tanggungjawab masing-masing demi kecemerlangan jabatan serta kesejahteraan masyarakat.

The Department of Orthopaedics, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) successfully organised the Paediatric Orthopaedic Preparatory Course 2025 on 24 & 25 August 2025 at Dewan Kuliah 4 (DK4 PPSP), Health Campus USM.

This focused two-day course brought together postgraduate trainees and medical officers nationwide, offering comprehensive coverage of paediatric orthopaedic conditions through lectures, interactive case discussions, and short case mock exams.

The Department of Orthopaedics, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia successfully hosted the AO In Hospital Program 2025 on Saturday, 23 August 2025, at the Hospital Pakar USM (HPUSM).

This one-day program, focusing on Orthopaedic Traumatology, brought together orthopaedic experts and participants for a full-day session of lectures, tutorials, and discussions aimed at enhancing knowledge and clinical skills in trauma and foot & ankle management.

Organised in collaboration with Advanced Trauma , Foot & Ankel (ATFA),Department of Orthopaedics, School of Medical Sciences, Health Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia, supported by the Education Special Interest Group (SIG) Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA), the program reflects USMโ€™s commitment to advancing medical education, professional development, and excellence in orthopaedic care.

Successful Organization of the National Orthopaedic Oncology Revision Course (NOORC) 2025
On 26 and 27 July 2025, the National Orthopaedic Oncology Revision Course (NOORC) 2025 was successfully held at Renai Hotel, Kota Bharu and Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kelantan. This national-level academic program brought together over 150 participants from across the country, comprising Master of Orthopaedic Surgery candidates, medical officers, and orthopaedic surgeons with a special interest in musculoskeletal oncology.

The course was organized by the Orthopaedic Oncology and Reconstructive Unit, Universiti Sains Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Musculoskeletal Oncology Interest Group (MMOIG), Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA), and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). Its main objective was to assist candidates in preparing for their final orthopaedic examinations and to enhance clinical skills in managing patients with bone and soft tissue tumours.

Throughout the two-day course, participants were exposed to various academic sessions, including lectures on tumour diagnosis and treatment, real clinical case discussions, and simulated viva sessions designed to mirror the actual examination format.

The program was further enriched by the presence of renowned experts in orthopaedic oncology and reconstructive surgery such as Prof. Dr. Zulmi Wan, Prof. Dr. Vivek Singh, and Prof. Dr. Wan Faisham, who generously shared their knowledge and vast experience with participants. Networking sessions between participants and faculty also strengthened academic and professional ties among institutions.

Overall, NOORC 2025 successfully achieved its objectives by empowering participants with greater knowledge, improved clinical competence, and increased confidence. It is hoped that this program will continue in the future as a key platform for developing expertise in orthopaedic oncology in Malaysia.
