It is jointly owned by Swinburne University of Technology Australia and the Sarawak Government through Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) & Sarawak Higher Education Foundation. The Sarawak campus is only a short distance to major commercial centres, food courts & public transport. Situated at a prime location about 15 minutes from the heart of Kuching, the 16.5-acre campus currently has a student population of more than 4,000. The university expects to have 5,000 students in the next five years. The campus was expanded in 2008 & comprises several new buildings that are custom-designed for the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & Science, Faculty of Business & Design and Faculty of Language & Communication. New facilities also include a research centre for sustainable technologies, lecture theatre, library & multi-purpose hall as well as two blocks of fully furnished four-storey hostels on and off campus which can house more than 1,000 students.

Swinburne Sarawak extends its warmest congratulations to our Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Dato Professor Ir. Lau Hieng Ho, on his conferment of the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS).

The conferment took place in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak last Saturday.

We take pride in this special milestone and wish Dato Professor Ir. Lau continued success in his leadership and commitment to higher education.

We were honoured to welcome the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Her Excellency Danielle Heinecke, to Swinburne Sarawak yesterday. Joining Her Excellency were Mr Lachlan McPhee, Second Secretary, and Mr Michael Ting, Senior Program Manager, from the Australian High Commission.

Her Excellency was welcomed by our Pro Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Ir. Professor Lau Hieng Ho, and Australiaโ€™s Honorary Consul in Kuching, Datuk Dr Philip Ting, alongside members of Swinburne Sarawakโ€™s Executive Group.

The session brought together alumni, students, and staff members from diverse backgrounds and experiences, creating an opportunity to exchange perspectives on education, career journeys, and achievements. It also highlighted the lasting value of an Australian education and the connections it continues to foster across communities and industries in Sarawak and beyond.

We look forward to seeing the connections formed through this visit continue to grow, bringing graduates, alumni, and students together to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and create new opportunities for learning and professional growth.

Across two days, the Swinburne Sarawak Careers Fair 2026 brought together students, employers and industry leaders to explore career pathways, gain industry insights and build connections that could shape their futures.

Through Power Talks, networking sessions and industry engagement activities, students had the opportunity to better understand industry expectations, discover career opportunities and expand their professional networks.

The fair also marked the launch of the MyFutureJobs Career Hub in collaboration with PERKESO Negeri Sarawak, as well as the signing of an MoU with Top Glove, strengthening industry partnerships and creating more opportunities for student growth, career readiness and employability.
