The Department of Communication was established in late 2010 to offer the BA (Hons) in Communication degree. In 2012, the department was renamed to the Department of Communication & Liberal Arts. Due to the range of subjects taught by the staff of the department, not to mention the interdisciplinary electives available to students reading for the Communication degree, the department comprises staf
f from different disciplines, background and research areas. The BA (Hons) in Communication is a 3-years degree programme focusing on Corporate Communication and Public Relations. The degree is a well structured programme with specific aims and learning objectives for each year of study. In the first year, students acquire a solid foundation in the principles of communication; in the second year, students specialise in their chosen areas of interest and in the third year, students conduct research projets in their areas of interests to apply knowledge and skills acquired in their research methodology class, take up interdisciplinary electives to broaden and synthesise knowledge across disciplines and gain industrial experience in their internships. In 2019, DCLA reverted back to its core name and focus 'Department of Communication' (DoC). In 2021, DoC launched the BA (Hons) in Advertising and Branding. DoC is currently working to enhance our program offerings - stay tuned! Our first batch of students graduated in 2014 and we are proud of their academic performances and achievements. Well done to our graduates.
