Having emerged as 1st Runner-Up at the Malaysian National Rounds and recipients of the Best Memorial Award for attaining the highest written memorial scores nationwide, Team UM went on to represent Malaysia at the International Rounds of the worldโ€™s largest moot court competition in public international law.

Competing amongst 165 teams from leading universities around the world, Team UM delivered an exceptional performance on the international stage. After battling through four intense preliminary rounds, the team secured its place amongst the top 55 teams worldwide and advanced to the Elimination Rounds. There, Team UM faced Peking University School of Transnational Law for a place in the Round of 32.

The team ultimately secured an outstanding overall ranking of 42nd internationally, with its Written Memorials ranking 43rd in the world.

๐Ÿš€ A Double Milestone for Academic Excellence at UM Law Today! ๐Ÿš€

Today marks a phenomenal step forward for the research ecosystem at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, as we successfully celebrated the official Research Cluster Kick-off alongside the premier session of our Upskilling Series #1!

The Research Cluster Kick-off represents a strategic new chapter for FUU, designed to break research silos, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and unite our legal minds under focused thematic areas.

To complement this grand vision, the Upskilling Series #1: "How to Select a Journal" was immediately rolled out to provide our clusters with the practical tools needed to translate their collaborative ideas into high-impact publications.

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support, active participation, and outstanding commitment shown by our lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students who filled the room today.

We sincerely hope both programs serves as a powerful catalyst to boost motivation, ignite fresh academic passions, and drive groundbreaking research achievements across all our new clusters. Together, letโ€™s elevate UM Lawโ€™s research footprint to greater heights! ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœจ

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Unpacking Constitutional Powers: Perspectives on Public Law ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Earlier today, the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with RDS Advocates & Solicitors, successfully hosted the Essays on Fundamental Rights Roadshow.

The forum dived deep into a highly compelling and foundational constitutional debate:

"Article 149 and Article 150: Legislative Overreach or Necessary Constitutional Tools?"

Our distinguished panel of legal minds and judicial heavyweights provided exceptional insights, balancing academic rigor with practical courtroom and human rights perspectives. A huge thank you to our esteemed speakers:
๐Ÿ”น Emeritus Prof. (Datuk) Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi (Emeritus Professor, UM)
๐Ÿ”น Datoโ€™ Seri Hishamudin Yunus (Retired Court of Appeal Judge, SUHAKAM Chairman & Consultant, RDS)
๐Ÿ”น Vinayak Sri Ram (Partner, RDS)
๐Ÿ”น Nishooldran Ravindran (Pupil-in-Chambers, RDS)

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked critical questions, and contributed to a very lively constitutional discourse in our faculty today.

โœจ Shaping the Future of Child-Friendly Justice Today! โœจ

The Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia, successfully concluded the Victim Nexus to Justice and Mobile Court Showcase earlier today!

It was an honor to welcome students, academics, and members of the public to witness firsthand how these two specialized vehicles are making justice safer, kinder, and more accessible for child witnesses and the wider community.

Participants had the unique opportunity to explore:

๐ŸšŒ The Victim Nexus to Justice Vehicle: Learning how this safe, trauma-informed space on wheels allows children to testify with absolute dignity without entering a real courtroom.

โš–๏ธ The Mobile Court: Experiencing a fully equipped courtroom on wheels that brings legal proceedings directly closer to the community.

Thank you to everyone who visited, interacted with the teams, and showed their solidarity for child-friendly justice. Together, we are building stronger bridges for children to justice!
