(Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi) USM It is also liberal education-based and multi-disciplinary.

Universiti Sains Malaysia has offered Communication Programs since 1970 with an educational philosophy that emphasizes the needs of the communication industry in this country. On the 20th of October 1982, the university senate approved to review of a communication curriculum to be integrated into the master plan of Universiti Sains Malaysia. This review was made based on the University’s ability to offer a reliable communication discipline and meet the demands of training and job opportunities in the field. USM’s communication study is based on a mixed approach to the theory of learning and practice. This combination of expertise is considered important because in the field of communication, as practised by the current media industry, requires an experienced and skilled workforce to publish, produce and create communication messages. The School of Communication, USM, provides a number of courses that allow students to showcase their skills by applying the concepts of theory and principles that they have learned to create materials in print and electronic media.

Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) merakamkan setinggi-tinggi tahniah kepada Dr. Nur Atikah A Rahman selaku Ketua Projek bersama ahli pasukan:

atas kejayaan memperoleh 2026 SDG Youth & Leadership Camp Consultation Project Grant berjumlah RM30,000 bagi pelaksanaan projek:
🌏 “Suara Muda SDG: Empowering Youth Communicators Camp”
Geran ini dibiayai oleh All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM).
Kejayaan ini mencerminkan komitmen warga Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi dalam memperkasa golongan belia melalui bidang komunikasi serta menyokong agenda Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan (SDG) melalui penglibatan, kepimpinan dan pembangunan kapasiti generasi muda.
Semoga projek ini dapat memberikan impak yang bermakna kepada komuniti serta menjadi pemangkin kepada lebih banyak inisiatif yang menghubungkan komunikasi, belia dan pembangunan mampan.

🌟 FRESHMAN ORIENTATION & WELCOME SESSION | ACADEMIC SESSION 2026/2027

The School of Communication, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) warmly welcomed 224 first-year students, comprising local and international students, during the Meet and Greet Session for the Bachelor in Communication with Honours, Academic Session 2026/2027, held on 25 September 2026 at DK F. 💙

The session marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our incoming students, providing them with an opportunity to get to know the School, academic programmes, lecturers, administrative staff and their fellow coursemates.

The programme featured a Bachelor in Communication academic briefing, Q&A session, photography session, meet-up with Academic Advisors, and course registration. These sessions were designed to help students better understand their academic journey and settle into university life.

We are delighted to welcome our new students to the School of Communication family and wish them a meaningful, enriching and memorable journey ahead.

At PPKOM USM, students will go through core courses, discipline courses, electives, a final year project, and industrial training — while exploring areas such as **Strategic Communication, Digital Communication, Creative Screen, and Journalism**.

COMM@LiT 2026 Wins Bronze at the IPMA Global Project Excellence Awards 2026

HIROSHIMA, JAPAN, 18 September 2026 - The School of Communication extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Dr Jamilah Hj. Ahmad, Dr Suriati Saad, and the YBP230 Corporate Social Responsibility students for earning the Bronze Award in the Sustainability Project Management category at the IPMA Global Project Excellence Awards 2026 for their project, Communication @ Love in Transit 2026.

What started as a community initiative in Penang has now garnered international recognition. Tahniah diucapkan kepada Guo Zizheng atas kejayaan menamatkan pengajian Sarjana Komunikasi (Mod Campuran) di Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Beliau telah berjaya menyempurnakan tesis bertajuk:

“Exploring Rhetorical Appeal Strategies in Environmental ESG Communication on WeChat: A Qualitative Study Among Chinese New Energy Manufacturing Enterprises”
