We are proud to celebrate our recent alumna Zahwa Fadilla for winning Best E-Poster Presentation at the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Education (ICSE) 2026! 🎉

Her award-winning Final Year Project, “Words That Teach: Identification of Parts of Speech, Themes, and Word Sophistication in Malaysian Orang Asli Children’s Literature,” explored the linguistic and cultural value of children’s literature from Yayasan Gamuda’s storybooks from the Orang Asli Communities series.

Her research highlights how culturally meaningful and linguistically accessible literature can support vocabulary development, English language learning, and intercultural awareness among Orang Asli learners.

Congratulations, Zahwa, on this wonderful achievement! 🌟

We’re honoured to be part of another meaningful dialogue with Orang Asli communities in Peninsular Malaysia as part of the ongoing validation of the Indigenous Leadership Framework for Malaysia. This session marks another step in a nationwide co-creation process involving Indigenous communities, Yayasan Gamuda, Yayasan Kajian dan Pembangunan Masyarakat (YKPM) , the University of Nottingham Malaysia and other partners.

Dr Suria Angit from the School of Education, UNM, co-facilitated the session with Mr Zamri Berahim from Yayasan Kajian dan Pembangunan Masyarakat (YKPM), supporting discussions that centred Indigenous perspectives and strengthened community ownership of the framework, ensuring Indigenous leadership is defined by Indigenous peoples themselves.
