The Learning Lens is all about rethinking the classroom experience and centering Inquiry, Inclusivity, and Innovation to truly understand the learner journey. From recognizing where learners are, to valuing their unique strengths, and building meaningful pathways forward, it’s more than a framework, it’s a mindset. 🧠✨

Across diverse contexts, from corporate English training to strengths-based education for Orang Asli communities, one thing remains clear: when we focus on the learner experience, we create learning that lasts. 🌟

Dr Tiong Ngee Derk published an article in Malaysiakini about whether Malaysia’s new Learning Matrix can truly improve learning-or risk becoming just another exam.

He argues that the Learning Matrix is a step in the right direction if used as a low-stakes, standardised tool to monitor learning rather than rank students or schools. It complements school-based assessment by offering a consistent benchmark and helps identify learning gaps early. However, its success depends on avoiding test drilling, using mastery-based reporting instead of grades, and ensuring results are used to support learning-not create pressure. Ultimately, its impact depends on how society chooses to use it.

Education uncovered: Inquiry, Innovation, Inclusivity

Join us at the 12th Ganakumaran Subramaniam Education Showcase on the 23rd of April 2026 at the Great Hall!

The event returns to highlight the students at the School of Education and a glimpse into the minds that shape tomorrow. It is a day where students can share their experiences and present the academic year's hard work to the public and to the rest of the school, may it be in the form of creating infographic posters or speaking about their experiences in a panel discussion.

We hope to see you there!
