SHAHNON AHMAD SECOND COUNTRY SEMINAR AWARD PRESENTATION
On this day in 1982, YBhg. Prof. Datuk Shahnon bin Ahmad received the Second National Literature Award from DYMM Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah Ibni Late Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mu’adzam Shah, which is in the Grand Court in the Bankuasi Hall, Parliament Building, Kuala Lumpur.
A child born in S*k, Kedah brings home RM30,000.00 cash and other facilities. He, who is the Director of the Islamic Center, University of Science Malaysia, began to be famous as a writer around the mid-1950s when he frequently produced scripts and essays. He produced his first novel, Rentong in 1965 and later followed by the novel Exposedah.
In 1966, he produced his most memorable novel, Ranjau All the Way. The novel was so pop**ar that it was translated into English as No Harvest But A Thorn and was listed as one of the 10 most captivating novels of 1972 by the panel of The Sydney Morning Herald. Besides this mentioned novel, the Honorable Prof. Datuk Shahnon produced more than 30 works of writing spanning novels, fiction, essays and studies.
