Pensijilan ISO 14001 menunjukkan komitmen syarikat terhadap pengurusan alam sekitar. Namun, ISO 14001 tidak menggantikan kewajipan undang-undang berkaitan pengurusan scheduled wastes.

Seksyen 49A, Akta Kualiti Alam Sekeliling 1974 memperuntukkan keperluan orang berwibawa bagi pengurusan scheduled wastes, tertakluk kepada skop dan kehendak undang-undang yang berkenaan.
