Empowering Young Voices 2026
The School of Foundation Studies (SFS), UTS, successfully organised Empowering Young Voices 2026 in collaboration with SMK Agama Sibu on 22 August 2026.
Led by the Organising Chairperson, Ms Shahira Binti Johan, the programme brought together 100 students from SMK Agama Sibu for a day of interactive public-speaking and team-based activities.
The programme began with an engaging public-speaking session conducted by Dr Sharifah Norliza Binti Wan Junaidi, who introduced participants to essential techniques for organising ideas, communicating clearly and presenting confidently.
A key focus of the programme was to provide 10 SFS UTS students with a practical platform to develop their public-speaking, leadership, communication and facilitation skills. As facilitators and mentors, they managed groups, explained activities, guided participants and ensured that every student had an opportunity to contribute.
We were also honoured to welcome the Principal of SMK Agama Sibu, Madam Rosnah Binti Mahamud, to the closing ceremony to celebrate the participants’ achievements.
Our sincere appreciation goes to Ms Rokiah Binti Mantali for her continued trust and commitment to making this collaboration possible for the third consecutive year. Thank you also to all teachers, SFS lecturers and student facilitators who contributed to the programme’s success.
