UTS and SKMG Asia Technology Sdn. Bhd. Explore Joint Professional Training Initiatives

University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohammad Shahril bin Osman, welcomed a courtesy visit from SKMG Asia Technology Sdn. Bhd. on 13 October 2026. The delegation was led by its CEO, Ts. Haji Rosdin Bin Abdul Kahar.

The visit focused on the potential to jointly organise professional training programmes in Electric Vehicles (EV), Telecommunications and Fibre Optics. SKMG also pledged EV cars for teaching/learning and usage for Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) to support practical training and skills development.

UTS looks forward to working with SKMG to strengthen technical competencies and develop industry-ready talent.

UTS Participates in Consultation Workshop on Sarawak SOE Aggregate Report

The University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) participated in the Consultation Workshop on the Sarawak State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Aggregate Report, held on 7 October 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), in collaboration with the World Bank Group.

Representing UTS were Mr Ian Daim, Head of Department, Corporate Department; Mr Edwin, Senior Executive; and Ms Alpha, Executive.

The workshop provided valuable insights into SOE governance, transparency, accountability, performance reporting and international best practices. Discussions also highlighted the role of reliable data and the e-SOEs system in strengthening the monitoring and reporting of Sarawak’s SOEs.

UTS’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening corporate governance awareness, enhancing stakeholder engagement and supporting continuous organisational improvement in Sarawak’s corporate and government-linked environment.

UTS Strengthens Strategic Industry Collaboration with Hasilwan (M) Sdn. Bhd.

University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) welcomed a courtesy visit from Hasilwan (M) Sdn. Bhd. on 8 October 2026, led by General Manager of Green Energy Solutions Johnson Lam and Head of Key Accounts Azwan Hussaini. The delegation was received by UTS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Shahril bin Osman, together with UTS representatives.

The engagement explored potential strategic collaboration in, System (BESS), renewable energy solutions, student engagement, industrial knowledge sharing and internship opportunities.

The proposed collaboration presents valuable opportunities for UTS to strengthen university industry linkages, enhance renewable energy knowledge and capabilities, provide industry exposure and career opportunities for students, and support innovation and regional development.

The University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) welcomed a delegation from BWYS Group Berhad, led by its Executive Director, to its campus in Sibu, Sarawak, on 6 October 2026.

Chaired by UTS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohammad Shahril Osman, the meeting provided a platform to exchange views and knowledge on building and construction materials, as well as automation solutions for the manufacturing and logistics industries.

UTS also invited a local industry partner to participate a well established contractor in Sibu with extensive experience in building and construction, including involvement in the development of the UTS campus and upcoming expansion projects.

Through this engagement, UTS facilitated introductions to help BWYS explore potential business opportunities in Sarawak, particularly in Sibu, through connections with local industry partners.

The visit also included a campus tour. UTS looks forward to continued engagement that strengthens industry–academic ties and supports business collaboration and regional development.

🤖 STEM Basic Robotics Programme 2026

We are pleased to invite students aged 10–12 years old to join our STEM Basic Robotics Programme 2027, which will be held on 7th November 2026 (Saturday) at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).
The programme is designed to nurture critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork through fun and engaging activities in Graphical Coding and Basic Robotics.

☀️ Introduction to Grid-Connected Solar PV Design ⚡

We are pleased to share some highlights from the Introduction to Grid-Connected Solar PV Design training programme, held through a collaboration between Entera Technology Academy Sdn. Bhd. and University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).

The training was conducted by Ts. Dr. Samat Iderus, who shared valuable knowledge, expertise and practical insights on grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with the participants.

We hope that the participants gained meaningful knowledge and skills from the training that will support their professional growth, career development and continuous learning in the renewable energy sector. 🌱

UTS at Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Bersasar 2026

We are pleased to share some highlights from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Bersasar 2026 programme held in Song, Kapit, where the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD), University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) was invited to participate as an exhibitor.
