𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 | 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠

Professor Chen Hong is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of water and environmental engineering at Changsha University of Science and Technology (CSUST), where he serves as a full Professor and Ph.D. supervisor. He obtained his Ph.D. and further strengthened his research expertise through postdoctoral training at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES, CAS), as well as through his appointment as a JSPS Researcher at Tohoku University, Japan. In addition, he is a Certified Environmental Protection Engineer in China.
With long-standing research involvement in water and environmental engineering, Professor CHEN has made significant contributions in areas such as anaerobic digestion, autotrophic biological denitrification, and smart water systems. His outstanding academic achievements are reflected in more than 100 publications in high-impact journals, including Water Research and Bioresource Technology. His research work has received widespread recognition, accumulating over 6,000 citations with an h-index of 42.
Professor Chen is also an active innovator, having been granted 30 Chinese invention patents as the first inventor. His excellence in research has earned him recognition among the world’s top 2% scientists from 2023 to 2025, alongside his selection under the Hunan Provincial Regular Universities Young Backbone Teacher Program. Furthermore, he has successfully secured and led 10 national and provincial research projects funded by Chinese foundations and R&D programs.

An environmental researcher with a strong commitment to sustainability, Dr. Cindy has built her career around addressing real-world environmental challenges through research, collaboration, and innovation. Her academic journey began with a Master of Science in Safety, Health, and Environment, during which he discovered a passion for research while serving as a research assistant. This early exposure shaped her dedication to supporting and leading studies that contribute to environmental problem-solving at both national and international levels.

Dr. Cindy earned her PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2018, completing it on schedule while remaining actively engaged in research and consultancy projects. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience working with governmental and international agencies, playing a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of multidisciplinary research initiatives.

She has contributed to the academic community through participation in numerous national and international conferences and has published several research papers since 2015. Her leadership capabilities were further demonstrated through her appointment as Project Manager, and subsequently Core Research Fellow, for the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF)–funded Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub. In this role, she led postdoctoral researchers and contributed to achieving the Hub’s global impact objectives. Her work also provided her with the opportunity to speak at a side event during the United Nations 2023 Water Conference in New York.

Currently serving as a Senior Research Associate at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed), Dr. Cindy’s research interests encompass water security, climate change, public health, governance, and environmental sustainability.

Professor Dr. Azham is an expert in Environmental Engineering, currently serving at the Department of Bioscience and Engineering at the College of Systems Engineering and Science, Shibaura Institute of Technology in Saitama, Japan. His research focuses on environmental and chemical engineering. He has been the President of the Malaysian Biosafety and Biosecurity Association since 2018. Among his notable achievements, Dr. Azham won the Double Gold Award for the "Tapau Bike" project at the British Invention Show in 2014 and received the "Honour of Invention" award and a gold medal at the International Engineering Invention and Innovation Exhibition (i-ENVEX) in 2013. He has so far published in my high impact journals and has a H-index of 27 and still counting today.
