Reflecting on the journey with the Standard Bank Namibia Blue Growth Series, we are excited to share the powerful stories of the people and partnerships driving MSME growth in Namibia.

From the 2026 cohort, 28 participants will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses, while a total of 68 participants will graduate, marking an important milestone in their entrepreneurial journeys.

As part of this reflection, we sat down with programme stakeholders and our CEO, Arinze Okafor, for a series of vodcast interviews. Today, NIFA attended the Bloomberg School Initiative at Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool, and it was an incredible opportunity to engage with learners and introduce them to the world of entrepreneurship, financial markets, investment knowledge, and careers in finance.

Through this initiative, learners are gaining early exposure to Bloomberg courses and practical financial tools that can strengthen their financial knowledge, entrepreneurial thinking, and understanding of the financial industry.

This is more than just learning about finance — it is about inspiring young minds, building skills, and preparing the next generation of financial leaders.

And this is just the beginning! NIFA will continue visiting schools across the Khomas Region, bringing financial education, entrepreneurial thinking, investment knowledge, and opportunities closer to young people.

Skills. Synergy. Impact.

This morning, NIFA was proud to be part of the Lithon Foundation Breakfast, bringing together changemakers, organisations, and businesses around an important question: How do we work together to create lasting social impact?

For us, the conversation went beyond networking. It was about recognising that meaningful change requires more than good intentions. It requires skills, knowledge, strong partnerships, shared resources, and people willing to turn ideas into action.

At NIFA, we believe that building people’s capabilities is a critical part of building stronger communities and a stronger economy. We are therefore grateful for platforms like this that create space for organisations to learn from one another, connect with potential partners, and explore practical ways to contribute to Namibia’s development.

Thank you to Marsia and the Lithon Foundation team for bringing the right people into the room and creating a space for honest conversations, new connections, and possibilities for collaboration.

Building the future of finance starts with the right skills.

NIFA engaged with students and young professionals from the UNAM Trading and Investment Society at the University of Namibia (UNAM), introducing them to Bloomberg courses designed to build practical knowledge and exposure to entrepreneurship, financial markets, and investment markets.

This is an opportunity for young people to develop industry-relevant entrepreneurial and financial skills, understand how global markets work, and gain practical experience with tools used in the financial sector.

By connecting young people to these opportunities, NIFA is helping bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical financial skills, preparing them to navigate the evolving financial ecosystem.

The future of finance starts in the classroom!

NIFA is proud to bring the Bloomberg School Initiative to school learners across the Khomas Region, creating early exposure to entrepreneurship, financial markets, investment knowledge, and opportunities in finance.

Through this initiative, learners will have the opportunity to take Bloomberg courses, gaining practical exposure to financial tools and knowledge that can help develop their entrepreneurial and financial skills and shape the next generation of financial leaders.

Today our represented by Arinze Okafor, CFA, CAIA, Shanice Britz and Morris Kalunduka briefed the Parliament of the Republic of Namibia's Standing Committee on Economy and Industry, Public Administration and Planning on how Namibia can strengthen skills development, build MSME capacity, and widen access to capital.

In our presentation, we told the Committee that the existing tax incentive for employers who take on interns has delivered limited results. Namibia has only a small pool of tax-paying employers positioned to benefit from it.

We proposed converting Namibia's employer tax incentive for interns into a stipend model that could absorb graduates at scale, citing Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) programme, which has supported over 1,000 students, and noting that it is worth replicating.

We also called for alternative approaches to help the many young Namibians running informal businesses, who struggle to access capital through the newly introduced National Youth Development Fund. As it stands, the fund's framework is working against these young entrepreneurs rather than supporting them.

This engagement is an extension of our purpose, to build world-class financial skills and professional capabilities within Namibia's workforce and financial sector.
