EU Suspends Some Namibian Meat Imports Over FMD

The European Union has temporarily suspended imports of certain Namibian meat products following the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in the Karasburg State Veterinary District. The restrictions affect fresh beef, sheep and goat meat, as well as products such as biltong and jerky. However, treated products meeting EU requirements can still enter the market. The EU says the measures are aimed at protecting animal health.

Headline: Two Namibian Pupils Represent Country at International Science Fair

BREAKING: Two Namibian pupils have represented the country at the 2026 Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair in Johannesburg, South Africa. Guillermo Melando from Oranjemund Private School and Thobias Gabriel from Donatus Secondary School earned their places after winning the primary and secondary categories at Namibia’s 2025 National Science Fair. Their participation was supported by NCSRT, the Education Ministry, UNICEF Namibia and the NamPower Foundation.

Namibia’s Unlisted Investment Market Reaches N$6.4 Billion

Namibia’s unlisted investment market has grown to N$6.4 billion in committed capital, up 37.1% year on year, according to Namfisa. Of this, N$4.9 billion has already been invested in private companies. Agriculture, forestry and fishing received the largest share at 15.7%, while funded companies now employ 9,917 people, a 24.9% increase.
