🎓 A NEW ERA FOR TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION IN EBONYI STATE

A major milestone was recorded in Ebonyi State as the first set of students were officially matriculated into the Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology, Oferekpe-Agbaja Izzi (UICTO).

During the historic ceremony, the Governor of Ebonyi State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, announced scholarships for all 187 pioneer students of the institution. This bold move reflects the government’s strong commitment to developing technology, innovation, and human capital in the state.

UICTO, located in Oferekpe-Agbaja Izzi, is designed to train students in ICT, science, engineering, and innovation, equipping them with modern skills needed to compete in today’s digital world.

⭐ Students Already Showing Innovation

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the creativity displayed by the pioneer students — despite having spent less than four months since lectures began.

• Students from the Department of Architecture presented the governor with a beautiful hand-drawn pencil sketch portrait of him and his wife as a mark of appreciation.

• Students from the Faculty of Computing and Engineering also presented an innovative project — a Sanitary Pad Accelerator, a device designed to support the production of sanitary pads and improve accessibility to hygiene products.

Many observers described these achievements as impressive, especially considering how recently academic activities started at the university.

🏛️ Building the Future

The 187 pioneer students now carry the historic responsibility of becoming the foundation of UICTO’s academic legacy.

The university is expected to promote innovation, attract research collaborations, create employment opportunities, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Ebonyi State.

The host community of Oferekpe-Agbaja Izzi has also been widely appreciated for donating land for the establishment of the institution.

✅ The exercises recorded an impressive turnout and marked a strong start to academic activities.

2025/2026 Student Orientation and Verification Exercise

To: All Newly Admitted Students (UICTO)
Date: January 4, 2026

Compliments of the season to our newly admitted students. The Management of UICTO is pleased to announce the Compulsory Student Verification and Orientation Exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session. All freshers are required to participate in this exercise as scheduled below.

📅 Schedule and Venue:

Date: Monday, 5th January – Friday, 9th January 2026

Time: 9:00 AM Prompt (Daily)

Venue: Ministry of Tertiary Education, Vocational Training Centre, Centenary City, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

📒 Required Documentation:
Students must present the following documents, neatly arranged in the order listed below:
1. JAMB Offer of Admission
2. UICTO Offer of Admission
3. Post-UTME Receipt
4. Acceptance Letter
5. Acceptance Letter Receipt
6. JAMB Result Slip
7. Original Certificates:
O’ Level Result (or equivalent)
First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
8. Birth Certificate or Statutory Declaration of Age
9. Local Government Identification Letter
10. National Identification Number (NIN) Slip or ID Card
11. NELFUND Registration Print-out Slip
12. Two (2) Passport Photographs

Note!!!
1. Those that have not uploaded their credentials or have not paid acceptance fees, must do that before the verification date.

2. Get all your original credentials/documents ready and come with your laptop.

3. Make two copies of these credentials/documents for the verification exercise before you travel for Christmas,

4. Make your private arrangement for transportation, accommodation and feeding for the number of days the exercise will last.
