ASE Commemorates the International Day of Peace 2025

The African School of Economics marked the International Day of Peace with a four-day series of activities themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World.” The highlight was a Special Lecture delivered on Monday, September 22, 2025, by Amb. Amb. Albert Omotayo, former Nigerian High Commissioner to Mozambique, Madagascar, and Mauritius.

In his lecture on God, Philosophy, and World Peace, Amb. Omotayo emphasised forgiveness, collaboration, and love as the foundations of positive peace. He concluded with a hopeful reminder that humanity is still in the process of becoming — and that future generations can grow to know peace as the natural way of life.

ASE Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, in his opening remarks, called for steadfastness, resilience, and unity in a world faced with conflict.
The University also recognised Amb. Omotayo with an Award of Excellence for his faithful service and contributions to society.

Also in attendance were Mr. Abubakar Akande, Founder of Path to Peace Foundation, and Mr. Raymond Yusuf, Assistant Director, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
