A Leader with a Golden Heart: President Jamiu Tobi Yusuf
Ever since the beginning of the current elected Students Union Government leaders, they have been facing several criticism from individuals who are looking for one way or the other to sabotage their government and are also instigating students against the elected Students Union Government leaders.
Yet they choose to continue the great works they have started.
On the 17th of November, 2025 the international students day celebration, a powerful program was held at the university of Abuja and the current SUG President of University of Abuja President Yusuf Tobi Jamiu was given the opportunity to speak and instead of speaking about himself he chose to speak about the students of university of Abuja, the challenges they are facing, the rising death rate in the institution and many other challenges the students are facing.
A program that the current president of National Association of Nigeria Students Comrade Oladoja Olushola, Hon. Mukhtar the current chairman of house committee alongside other top leaders of National Association of Nigeria Students were in attendance.
A leader Like President Jamiu Yusuf is very hard to find, ever since university of Abuja have been having SUG president, none of them have ever spoken boldly like this about the challenges university of Abuja students are facing.
Earlier this year, the Current SUG president of university of Abuja did a video pleading, asking and seeking for the support of prominent leaders in the country and top companies in the country and he also expressed his sadness over the inability of university of Abuja students to book hostels and the death of university of Abuja students due to lack of hostels. A video that drew the attention of many including the founder of Sahara Reporters Newspaper who is also a human right activist who came all the way to university of Abuja but was denied entry by the university management.
The problem we have in Nigeria is that whenever we have good leaders, we don't value them.
University of Abuja students should not make the mistake that we made as a Nation.
When former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was the president of Nigeria, he was criticized and insulted by many. When he talked about the removal of fuel subsidy. A move that would make the country great. Protest took over the country and alot of people criticized him for that.
Ever since the current SUG president of university of Abuja talked about the removal of N1,000 SMS fee, a move that is for the betterment of the students, he has been criticized and insulted by many.
Just like former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Said, Today I am the most insulted president in the world today but after my tenure as the president of Nigeria, you would all call me to come back.
The same way, after President Jamiu's tenure as the SUG president of University of Abuja, many students would cry for him to come back and they would never and can never have a leader like president Jamiu.
When Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iwela was the Minister of Finance in Nigeria she was insulted and criticized by many Nigerian's and today she is the best Director General of World Trade Organization.
We must learn to value and appreciate Good leadership Nigeria.
President Jamiu, you are a political leader with a calm mind and clear vision, I love your gesture towards the students of university of Abuja, I have never seen you use any abusive words at a public place or even privately like other politician do, this is one the best characteristics I like most about you.
There is magic in your words that mesmerizing us whenever we hear your speech, which is always very inspirational and motivational especially when you are talking about the students of university of Abuja.
Respected Mr. Tobi Jamiu, you have proven yourself to be a great leader with high morale and ethics.
You have exhibited an exemplary wisdom, remarkable vision with mission.
Thank you for your services President Jamiu and am wishing you greater Height!
