DOU Signs MoU with BAAN to Strengthen International Collaboration
Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brazil Alumni Association in Nigeria (BAAN) to promote international collaboration, academic exchange, research, scholarships and foreign language education.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, FHSN, MAAH, MNAL, MNARC, described the agreement as a landmark development that aligns with the University's vision of internationalising its programmes and expanding its global reach.
Speaking during the ceremony, Professor Aghalino said the partnership would provide students with additional skills and international exposure capable of enhancing their competitiveness in the employment market.
He noted that the collaboration would also create opportunities in areas including research, student and staff exchange, scholarships, computing, medical sciences, technology transfer and other academic programmes.
The Vice Chancellor emphasised that the partnership would be based on cooperation and knowledge sharing, stressing the importance of exposing students and researchers to global opportunities while adapting relevant international knowledge and innovations to local needs.
Also present at the ceremony were the National President of the Brazil Alumni Association in Nigeria (BAAN), Chief Dr. Francis Utomi, and the Representative of the Consul General of the Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Adeniran Olusola Arimoro.
Speaking on the significance of the partnership, the BAAN National President, Chief Dr. Francis Utomi, highlighted the opportunities the collaboration would create for students, researchers and the wider university community.
Mr. Adeniran Olusola Arimoro, representing the Consul General of the Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria, also underscored the importance of strengthening educational, cultural and professional ties between Nigeria and Brazil.
The MoU is expected to create new opportunities for academic exchange, research, scholarships, foreign language education, cultural engagement and knowledge transfer, further positioning Dennis Osadebay University as an institution with a strong international outlook. BAAN in line with the agreement is expected to build a foreign language learning centre under the faculty Arts.
