BREAKING NEWS: BORNO STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD OPENS PORTAL FOR 2021/2022 SESSION

This is to inform all Borno State students that the Borno Scholarship Board Portal has been lunched at 12:00pm today.
All Borno State students are advised to apply for the scholarship.

- Portal Now upgraded to include NIN
- So Far Gov Zulum Spent 500M on Students Busary

In the early hours of today in a press conference the Executive Secretary Borno State Scholarship Board Malam Bala Isa announced that, Gov Babagana Umara Zulum Mni Fnse have approved the opening of the board's portal to all Borno State students by 12 pm Tuesday 30th of August 2022.

The official portal of the board is www.scholarship.bo.gov.ng while only indigenes of Borno State studying in all tertiary institution in Nigeria are eligible.

The Executive secretary added that, the Portal is now upgraded in such way that students registering will no longer experience challenges and will require National Identification number(NIN) Birth and indigene certificates.

During the launching the president of the NATIONAL UNION OF BORNO STATE STUDENTS Comrade Abubakar Sadiq Wajiro on behalf of the students applaud, commend and appreciate the gesture of His Excellency the Executive Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum of his commitments in seeing that Borno state students have a sound credible education and benefits from the scholarship and also appreciated the governor’s commitment and assurance to settle the OUTSTANDING PAYMENT BALANCE of the scholarship and promise to compliment the efforts of the board in ensuring that more students register without challenges,

Buhari in Borno, opens quarters Zulum built for teachers

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Maiduguri, commissioned a newly built quarters built for teachers by the administration of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The quarters, which is one of over 600 capital projects delivered by Zulum, is sited in Bulumkutu, along airport road.

The fully fenced, interlocked and landscaped teachers' quarters comprise 24 units of furnished two-bedroom flats in six blocks of storey-buildings.

The quarters aside dozens of houses built by the Zulum administration at premises of secondary schools across the State is to increase teachers’ access to housing.

Buhari arrived the teachers' quarters minutes past 12 noon in company of Governor Zulum, Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, APC’s Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, some National Assembly members from Borno State, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, MD of the Northeast Development Commission, and top Government officials.

The President who visited the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El Kanemi, is in Maiduguri to commemorate the 2022 World Humanitarian Day organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Buhari is expected to unveil a special food distribution to families displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency, while he will also commission 500 resettlement homes for IDPs built by the FG in Molai, an outskirt of Maiduguri.

The houses are part of 10,000 resettlement houses approved by President Buhari in 2021, from which over 6,000 houses have so far been completed.

BORNO STATE GOVT BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF FEMALES HOSTEL, FENCING, AND 5.3 KILOMTERS CIRCULAR ROAD OF COLLEGE OF EDUCATION WAKA BIU.

Borno state government under the leadership of professor Babagana umara zulum has begun the construction of female hostel, fencing of the school and 5.3 kilometres circular road of college of education waka biu.

The proposal was submitted to the governor babagana umara zulum by the provost Dr Gambo Maidugu Saljaba at government House maiduguri.

The unprecedented transformation of Borno state continues, as Prof Babagana Umara Zulum's administration continue with the roads construction and rehabilitation. These are update on College of Education waka biu

The proposal contains architectural design, structural outlook, and Bill of quantities.

He appointed out his administration would continue to spend money on the project that would impact directly on the people.

Prof Zulum's Government is working hard to uplift the standard of Construction of road and drainages in the state.

Reviving Secondary School education, Rt. Hon. Muktar Betara Aliyu through North East Development Commission (NEDC) intervenes to provide infrastructural facilities worth 1.18 billion naira (1,018,000,000:00) in Government Girls Secondary School, Biu.

Government Girls secondary school, Biu is to benefit from the intervention grant of one billion eighteen million naira sponsored by the federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Muktar Betara Aliyu through NEDC. The project specification includes:
1. Perimeter fencing of the school
2. Construction of staff quarters
3. Construction of examination Hall
4. Construction students hostel among others
These facilities are provided to safeguard and make the school more conducive for teaching and learning.

Scandalous salaries: Zulum confirmed some LEA teachers get less than N11,000; Gusau explains

When that is done, search results will show a news story published on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) confirming that 10 months ago, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum was first to lament publicly, that some teachers at the Local Education Authority (LEA) levels, were still receiving less than N11,000, whereas their counterparts working at State levels were being paid based on N30,000 minimum wage.

The Governor’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau gave the above explanation in his reaction to some screenshots shared on social media platforms, showing credit alerts of some LEA teachers’ salaries from an LGA, with less than N10,000 as salaries.

The spokesman recalled that Governor Zulum had while addressing the reconstituted Borno State Universal Basic Education Board, under a new Chairman, Prof. Bulama Kagu, at the Government House, Maiduguri, on October 26, 2021, said the following:

“It is pathetic that there are teachers who are still collecting between N13,000 and N11,000 and even less. Despite economic challenges, we must work to ensure that every qualified teacher in Borno State earns a minimum of N30,000, which is the national minimum wage” Zulum lamented.

Gusau recalled that Zulum himself admitted that whereas the minimum wage was already implemented for all workers at the State Government levels including teachers, the implementation at the LEA could only be done after the system was sanitized just as it was done for State workers, Gusau recalled.
